salotnap: America extends from Patagonia to the Yukon Territories.

Why don't you visit all the countries in America and teach everyone you meet "how little america, its lingo, its ways matters in the whole planet." I'm sure they would benefit greatly from your superior knowledge.

ALL HAIL SALOTNAP!

1. I'm a Canadian, not an American.

question for Cory Doctorow when you say "I figger" you mean I figure? or is it just another way to tell everyone that you generally don't know what you are talking about. As you cannot figure out things, but only figger them.

question for all: do you know how little america, its lingo, its ways matters in the whole planet. Morever do you know you share a planet with hundred of other cyulturews, people, ways ...

You are a bit US centerd are you not? provincial perhaps. Think of it

Why would someone half way across the world care about how self-important people here think what their site should or shouldn't be called?

Yeah, Cory, neue's right. Why didn't you check whether anyone in Hong Kong was using a similar URL?

why would you expect a site not to do a search to see if the name's already out there?

Why would you expect someone in Hong Kong to know about a site in America?

Perhaps you should use the DMCA to crush him like a bug. It's not just for evil corporations, you know.

You've got to love a site that has a 250k graphic on the front page

I suggest using the talk-to-me link to ask him (politely) to rename his site.
