That was truly a great example of someone who was a great master of the semantical nature of language at work. I was previously unaware that Mr. Twain had shared any correspondance with persons of royalty. It also had the curious effect of reminding me how wonderfully crude the method of bill collecting I used to use with recalcitrant producers was. I dubbed it 'The Neverending Fax'. To employ, one takes an ordinary 8"X14" sheet of paper with an outstanding invoice printed upon, inserts halfway into the fax machine (stopping the feed when both ends are accessible), and scotchtapes a duplicate to it, in order to form a self-perpetuating billing cycle loop. Be sure to phone fifteen minutes after the target office has closed for the night and leave the connection open until morning. After ten or twelve paper roll changes (or in the case of your high rolling welshers several toner or inkjet cartridges) they're usually ready to talk turkey.
