Somehow, I'd have a lot more confidence in this project if it really were Google behind it, and not Microsoft.

Isn't John Poindexter already working on this?

Isn't there a painkiller (verced?) that's supposed to prevent you from forming memories of the pain? So you suffer, but later don't remember that you suffered?

And then, of course, there's the whole issue of tampering with somebody's synthetic memories. Though perhaps there's so much info in there that it's hard to change any piece without leaving ragged edges where it doesn't match up to the rest of what's in there.

And here I have invested so much time and energy in trying to forget my past. I don't want to know what really happened. I much prefer my edited memories.

So they're going to solve the "giant shoebox problem" by making a much bigger shoebox, and putting orders of magnitude more crap in it?

Funny, that's never worked for me, no matter how many times I keep trying it.
