I got an iPod for Christmas last year. It is sooooo cool.
Here's what I did. I bought a car stereo with a 1/8 inch plug so that I can listen to the iPod in the car. I also got a cell phone holder on my bike that fits it just right.
It changes the way you think of music. You don't have to carry around tons of cds to work or to your car, you don't have to mess with disks flying around your office or home. It is so small and cool and it doesn't even need batteries (it recharges with the firewire).
It takes me less time to call up a song on the iPod than it takes to pull a CD and put it in a player.
It doesn't make any sense to buy an mp3 player with 32,64 or even 128 mb of memory. I've got close to 50 or 60 cds worth of music on my iPod. When I put it on random play, I sometimes hear songs I didn't even know I had.
I also use it to sneakernet files from work to home on the extra 1-2 gigs I have left on the thing!
I can't say enough good things about the iPod. This is a 1.x product and it is close to perfect (the shinny metal finish is VERY delicate).
This thing was a major coup for Apple and I hope they keep up the innovation. If they keep putting out products this good, mac sales are going to go through the roof.
It's just too bad more people don't know how totally cool this thing is.
