Can someone describe SPEWS to us non-technical folk? thanks.

My understanding is that the people who run SPEWS aren't publically known, and that the people being paraphrased in those exchanges don't have any more control over SPEWS than any other nanae poster.

This kind of behavior only further marginalizes the anti-spam movement. I don't care what the excuses are - both overwork and frustration have solutions. Its a shame that non-spammers are being punished which only make these services less useful.

Well, it's anger. Ghugle knows I'm angry at spam. You start blacklisting, you get tons of whinge about "I'm not a spammer, I'm just an email marketer", and you develop a complex. Then, of course, you go overboard.

I understand exactly *why* MAPS and SPEWS ended up the way they did. I don't agree with it, but I understand. I think Cory hit it on the head why Vipul is a better idea -- it's easier to piss off one man than it is to piss off hundreds -- and if you do piss off hundreds, you deserve exactly what you get.

Such blacklists give people with little heads BIG powers. They get off on it. There is no recourse.
