I wonder how long it'll be before the first urban legend about people being killed specifically to turn them into diamonds rears its head.

And now that I think about it, I believe Larry Niven has a story to update... "The Organleggers" a.k.a. "Death By Ecstacy" -- you know, the one about killing people to harvest their organs...

yeah, but if you had like a small pet - like say a parakeet, maybe you could just have it stuffed and wear it on your finger just LIKE a ring, but without all the burning and the crushing and the pressure and the heat...
