Hmm, is that a S.F. United Way theft or a national one?

I give a token $10. so that my work has 100% compliance with United Way, but I save my real giving to do directly. I just don't see why a middle man (middle agency?) should siphon off 15% to cover their own expenses before they give the money to the organization I picked.
