cute... but still a toy compared to ALMIGHTY HOMESITE

(the CVS and UNIX integration look very nice, though)

Has anyone been able to get to the BareBones site? It's been swamped all day.

And Cowbox X, everyone knows the ultimate editor is emacs! <ducks/>

Jeez, I feel like I just got 6.5! These guys are getting as bad as apple. Don't get me wrong, I love this program, but I seem to be subscribing for 50 bucks a year.

Mirror for boingsters. (please don't announce to the whole world)

And for what it's worth, it sure feels like a significant improvement over 6.x, so it's prolly a worthy upgrade.

CVS integration and rectangular text selection are two features I've been pining for, so I'm in.

I use BBEdit for writing code, but I would be interested to know how Corey uses it to write novels. Do you just use raw text, or do you make use of any formatting tools? I use MS Word for most of my non-code writing, and I wouldn't mind getting away from it.

BBEdit is infitinely superior to Word for composition. No talking paperclip, no auto-"correction," keyboard shortcuts for EVERYTHING (Word doesn't even have a fucking shortcut for FIND AGAIN!), search-and-replace with regexp, andyour documents are nice, plain ASCII files that you can paste into the body of an email.

If Neal Stephenson can use friggin EMACS to write his novels, I guess Cory can use BBEdit... :)

Don't forget that you can also switch on Emacs keybindings from BBEdit's preferences. This was pointed out at the MacOSX con last month. It's handy because I bounce between the two all day long.
