Imagine my horror at reading this ...
I'm one of those poor saps who's degree is NOT in anything related to high-tech (I have a BA in Drama), and yet I work for a web-design company as programmer and designer. My spiderweb of communication goes in another direction entirely.
There are lot's of little islands out there, and I am on the smallest one. There are no degrees of separation for me because I am on the tech equivalent of Ascension Island.
Nobody knows me, and I know nobody.
Now I know how prisoners in Siberia felt.
