Um, why would RIAA be stupid enough to launch attacks from their block of IPs. We already know that they use third parties under contract to seed P2P networks with garbage data, and hunt copyright violators.

My educated guess is that Berman Bill hacking will be done in the same fashion as spammers: from a large number of rapidly changing IP addresses.

One must wonder if the RIAA is conversing with spamhausen to learn from them...

Uhh, question here folks: I use ATT Worldnet, one of the plaintiffs working to sue China I guess i don't know. I kinda of can't link to that forbidden site now and I'm not sure if it's just the traffic. How do I surf without my ISP's permission? Anonymizer? Peekabooty? Just type in the address number directly...? Suggestions...

They also seem to use a UUnet block for their website:

No: Just a hosting arrangement. They don't own the UU netblock, they're just renting an IP -- probably have a machine in the rack, but they might be virtual hosting on an UUnet machine. This is rather common for DC organizations -- UUnet has stunning amounts of bandwidth in the area, hooked into MAE-East.

How would this differ from the USENET "Death Penalty"?

This is fun. Here's what I found for the RIAA net-block:

RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOC OF AMERICA (NETBLK-RECORDIN50-191) RECORDIN50-191
12.150.191.0 - 12.150.191.255

They also seem to use a UUnet block for their website:
UUNET Technologies (Web Business Unit) (NETBLK-UU-208-225-90-D1) UU-208-225-90-D1
208.225.90.0 - 208.225.90.255

And they have a backup mailserver at 204.71.171.35, a
Cable & Wireless address.

Wow. This seems a lot more constructive than the DOS attacks we saw after the Berman bill was announced, but it's just one ISP. Will more follow suit? I think we can sacrifice end-to-end a little bit if it means "exiling" miscreants like Hilary&co from the net. Maybe. Again, wow.
