There are actually older people with drive and passion, but it may be attributable to caffeine.

I am not one of those people.

If this is true, then the kid worked it and good for him.

Being a published writer myself, I could probably get somewhere in the book publishing aspect if I worked it -- but, alas, I will have to admit that I am a very lazy, lazy man. :(

When you are young and starting out in a creative field, you have lots of passion and drive. The key to success is to direct that energy productively, without being distracted by scams and general, overall bullshit.

Ideally, one needs youthful energy combined with the wisdom (or guidance) of an old, experienced veteran in order to succeed in any creative endeavor. (Look at Bruce Sterling and his comments on the writer age issue.)

It isn't just 'write a book'...the back of his book refers to it as 'the book that ate my life'

Wiley,

What are you talking about? You're famous. You could write a book and get it published in a heartbeat. I, on the other hand, couldn't get a book deal if I took a publisher hostage. Actually, maybe that _would_ make for an interesting read. Hmmm....

The funny thing is that I have in my possession (though, alas, it belongs to a friend) a copy of his book under his self published house 'Paolini International, LLC' in Livingston, Montana.

It has now been pulled until its' reissue.

I love the first line: 'Wind howled through the night, carrying a scent that would change the world.'

It's either really infuriating or really inspiring.

Half a million dollars? I'd really like to see corroboration of this.
