"I wonder if they read Lemony Snicket novels over there. The look is right out of his books."
"Gothic Lolita" has been around since the 80's so it isn't associated with those books.
"sites like this make me want to have sex with teenaged asian girls"
You are a sick individual. I hope you try to and they stab you with their parasol.

EGA = Elegant Gothic Aristocrat. You could Get an explination here, but it's in Japanese.WHR: Actually, the EGL/EGA look stems from the Visual Kei musical movement, Which Mana (From the bands Malice Mizer and Moi Dix Mois) is pretty much the king of. (Yes, it's a guy. Look at above URL for info.) Basically most fans would dress up as their favorite band member to attend concerts, or just to show off in Harajuku on Sundays.

Witch Hunter Robin? Recent series, probably inspired by this gothic lolita trend rather than vice-versa; but the girl in the image displayed on this site does look strangely similar to Sena Robin.

Interesting that there are EGLs and EGAs old enough to have kids--I always associated the style with teens/early 20s.

Your task is to imagine what a sub-culture based on them might be like.

For a brief moment, I read this as "Gothic Lolita Bible _scams_," which would have pushed the whole business right over the edge into high weirdness.
