What Stefan said. Around here service organizations make sure cops and fire depts. have a supply of properly sized cuddlers in the trunk.

I agree-3" is too small...

We had a 'situation' in which the firefighters comforted my daughter with a nice 8" or so cuddly. She still has it.

I think that firefighters, etc. are really major gadget/gear wonks. My momma used to sell specialized gear to them, stuff like tools that would automatically rupture airbags if they went off, etc. It's a big business.

Of course, now I want to know what R. Gibson's "situation" was. Probably something embarassing.
