Yeah, but the only reason "switchers" need DivX is because they miss the ability to view internet porn in AVI format.

So, if you are REALLY missing that porno, the best DivX for OS X is found at http://doctor.3ivx.com/

Mplayer is the answer. Has never failed me.

What's difficult about using DivX now? I downloaded the DivX 5.0 alpha client, and it seems to be working well, with nothing more special than running the installer.

Quicktime will then play the DivX format. The installer does note that 3ivX is an incompatible format. But if everyone else is using DivX .. I don't see a big problem.

Godammit, so then what the hell is Quicktime 6 for then? Didnt that fix the dance-arounds?

One minor oversight: mplayer has an OS X port which is really good, really cross-platform and really free(speech+beer).
