Shortcomings of this emulator aside, the Mac has turned out to be a pretty damn good platform for emulation. Q.v. emulation.net.

My fave is Vectorama, the Atari vector arcade game emulator. Yeah, MacMAME will do that too, but Vectorama is much slicker -- and the binary is only about 200K!

KEGS sems to puke whenever I boot it up; I don't think it likes the ROMs I've been offering up to it. I may have to turn to my Vaio, which is already emulating arcade games and the GameBoy Advance under XP. Oh yeah, and acting as my Kazaa pipeline.

Windows: good P2P and emulation
OS X: good for everything else

Kewl. I never had a //gs, but I have a ton of old II+ development stuff, I wonder if I could get the old UCSD Pascal system up on one of these emulators. But then, the problem is, how the hell am I going to get those boxes full of 5in floppies into my Mac? I suppose I could get an old AppleII and make disk images, zap em over via serial port or something, but hey, that kinda defeats the whole purpose of emulation.

This is no news, check out www.emulation.net
all mac emulation, every platform you can possibly imagine.

Luckily I still have my IIe... and IIgs in working order.

I installed OSX II, and it is ok, but just ok. I'm gonna give KEGS a try. Bernie is alright, but doesn't seem to want to run IIe software.

Anyone know a good place to find old IIgs games like Task Force and Zany Golf?

Don't bother with this emulator yet. It's terribly slow. Take a look at KEGS (//2gs emulator) . I've been plaing Ultima 5 on it for a few weeks and it's much faster.

Coincidentally, I just installed Bernie II the Rescue on my iBook. Its mighty weird emulating OS9 so that I can emulate ProDos. But that's the price you pay for IIgs nostalgia. :)
