Jerome, a quick Google might have proved fruitful.

Every single link in this post, including the original two links, are broken. Is there a way to see what you were talking about? Thanks.

He does. His name is Jose Roberto Penteado, 41, from Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. Apparently his friends decided
to have a little laugh at his expense, and now he's (sort of) world famous. He says it's really annoying and unsettling to see his face all over the place like this, and that he'll never go back to New York. But there seems to be a good side to it: Volkswagen have made him a proposal to star in a new Brazilian ad campaign!

Sources (Brazilian media, in Portuguese): Jornal da Globo (TV), 6/11/01, Estado de São Paulo (newspaper) 7/11/01
