This is a bulletin board system we can try out. The purpose is to allow members to post plans, organize
car pools, whatever. It's a very simple system that, I hope, will be useful. Try it out!

My family will again be working and playing at Sugarloaf this season. We are there just about every weekend and Vacation week. We are in need of a seasonal rental that is not very expensive. A room with Kitchen and bath facilities or a multi bedroom place that we can split with someone else would do. If anyone knows of anything please forward a contact that we can get in touch with. Our email is taylorfitts@earthlink.net

Hey Jim! Thought I would give this message board a shot. It seems pretty simple and could be a great way to get together with club members on a short notice. Thanks for putting it together!

The PVSC is looking for a coach or assistant for the "Racing Development Team". This is a continuum program of the "Learn to Ski Program". The "Racing Development Team" develops downhill racing skills in a fun and educational environment while providing an initiation to ski competition. Children who are solid independent skiers, can ride the chair lift, and ski down the hill demonstrating control without assistance, are welcome to participate. Our goal is to participate in at least three races throughout the season. The "Racing Development Program" will run concurrently with the "Learn To Ski Program" on Saturdays from 09:00-11:00AM for 4 weeks starting Saturday January 5th. . Advanced middle school skiers will practice one to two evenings a week depending on interest. We will offer an orientation to the program on Thursday and Friday the 27th-28th of December from 09:00-11:00AM. Interested canidates please leave a message for Tom Drummond at 1-800-627-6243 vm 8001009 or email thomas_s.drummond@roche.com Thanks Tom

I am not a member but I found this board from the PVSC home page. I am interested in the learn to ski program, for myself and 4 year old daughter. I saw an article about it in a Winter supplement of the BDN but lost the supplement. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

The Learn to Ski Program is ready to start for 2002. For the January session, we have 34 children and 6 adults registered for the downhill ski/snowboard programs. Two people have registered for the cross-country program, and a number of people have called to inquire about both programs.
The next Learn to Ski session will begin on February 7 for adults and February 9 for Children. Please remember to register early so the information can be forwarded to Hermon Mountain. Also, membership funds should go directly to Cindy Dunlap instead of included in Learn to Ski registrations. Thanks!

I am a local physical education teacher, in Hampden.
I am trying to put together an "exposure to x-country skiing" program for the children at our elementary school. There is not a budget for this program at this time, so I'm trying to do this myself. I have collected 10 pairs of skis and a pile of boots by yard saleing, ski sales and donations. I have a long way to go but I am motivated.
If anyone out there has anything they would like to donate I will galdly accept.Aplaisted@sad22.k12.me.us

Learn to Ski/Snowboard currently has 46 participants. Now is the time to think about registering for our second session which begins February 6, 8, and 9. Snowboarding classes are now available on Sunday as well as Saturday. Deadline for registration is January 22. Please register on time because we need to get the lists to Hermon Mt. in advance so they can assign groups and instructors. Thanks!
Also our PVSC fleece vests have been very popular and we will not have any more this year. Next year we may have different logo items. If anyone wants a vest, please contact me soon so I can save one for you.

As the unofficial picture-taker for the PVSC racing program, I've accumulated around 200+ digital images of the participants in the program, taken at two practice sessions at Hermon and at the Eaton and Squaw races. Dan Harrison had these up on his computer when we showed the videos at his house and again at the banquet – some blurred, some with only half a racer, but some worth keeping. I would be delighted to share these with parents, grandparents, etc., and would be happy to burn a CD for anyone who wants it. My e-mail address is Richard_Judd@umit.maine.edu. If you would prefer to write or call, my address is 48 Ferry Road, Orrington, 04474, and my phone # is 825-3809. If you send me an address, I'll send out a CD. If you know other families in the program and could share the CD around, that would help. I will wait until after the March 15 race so I can get everything on one CD, then send them out. Richard Judd

All members are expected to volunteer in order to be eligible to participate in club activities including trips. Used equipment may be dropped off Friday evening, Oct. 21. Members can shop after all the trucks are unloaded.
The next membership meeting will be held on November 8 at the Fields Pond Nature Center. The guest speaker will provide information on telemark skiing. Also at that meeting, we will have advance sign-up for club trips to Sugarloaf, Quebec, and Sunday River, and sign-up for the Learn to Ski and Racing Development programs. Please try to attend so that you have priority on the sign-up lists for these events.

Henry,

The PVSC holds a one day ski sale of consignment goods and does not have any equipment to sell. All of the equipment is returned to its owners at the end of the one day sale.

We are sorry you missed this year's sale. Other ski clubs in the state hold their own sales and I believe there will be sales every weekend for the next month or two.
