I want to join the ski club. Besides a good deal on ski lessons at Hermon Mountain do we get any other deals like on lift tickets for places nearby, like Hermon Mountain?

Hey Pat-
That's the one. At the time I was skiing in West Virginia and they were just too soft for the icy conditions we had most of the time. Down there we always heard they were a western pow ski and from the performance in WVa, it was believable. And yeah I remember those God-awful Hansen boots too. At the time it ripping it up Wrong style. At 05:52 PM 10/14/2011, you wrote:

If memory serves Excel was an Alpine ski company in the late 70s and early-mid 80s at least. Soft and not too responsive even by those bygone standards. They're "trademark" was the split tail. An actual cut 4"-6" into the body of the ski from the tail. The claim was it helped stabilize the ski. At that point I'd never skied out west but rumor was it was a pretty sweet powder ski. Hope this helps. And hope memory serves.

Looking to see if anyone can tell me about Exel skis? Yes, Exel made skis at some point - they aren't/weren't just a pole company. I can't find any information on the skis on the internet. Does anyone know if they are quality etc?

We are excited to introduce our three sons, ages 6, 6 and 4, to alpine skiing this winter! We are searching for used equipment to get them started, nothing fancy or too expensive. They'll be participating in the Learn to Ski program at Hermon (where they can rent) but we hope they love it in which case we'll need our own stuff. Please e-mail: emjagger@roadrunner.com Thanks!
