ARE YOU ANTI-UNION? "USELESS UNION" talk is just simply throwing darts. Most of us serving as officers locally practically do this as volunteer work with very little compensation. On the national level, the union has been forced to deal with EXTRODINARY circumstances this past year or two. You can't kill the host and survive. We actually DO have to back off on some of our desired requests during times like this. We never want the PO to look as bad as GM. YOU,as an individual, have almost NO chance of having the work life we have now without the union victories that have kept so many trained postal dictators from running over your rights. "Scabbing" your way through isn't the answer either because we are still forced to defend you and fight for your work rules and pay/benefits. It just isn,t right. If you are upset with your local steward try to communicate that at the meetings and work to replace him. Dropping out hurts all your co-workers including all the well run locals around the country.
FedUp is feeling a little cranky today but does say some true things to consider. Sometimes we get a little cranky because there is really not as much help from the membership as needed.
