/m30542 20% of my DPS is all missequenced. The District dumps default mail in DPS to phony up its numbers, putting the burden on carriers to get it delivered. We use to be able to get non- and improperly coded mail at 7:30AM so it could be cased up. Now we have to wait until 9:45AM before we can screen and pull it from DPS trays. District management says, "We do not care about the impact on carriers. We have to demonstrate high DPS percentages." It's all about the numbers...at the district level to justify its performance. Postmasters and carriers be damned.

/m30541 Info is correct because you are not bidding. You are volunteering to be excessed, to take the place of someone who is being excessed. Just like them, you can pick from the open jobs but you can't go back or stay where you are anymore than they can. If you jump into it, you are giving up your current gig.

Dhacker, my question is simple, can we get our local union back once we have folded it and gotten into the bigger union? I know we have a steward but her questions go unanswered from the main union, and it is like pulling teeth to get an answer from them. I will go this far to also tell you this, they hosted the state convention and we didnt even know until the weekend it was being held. TOp that off with the fact that they have local union newsleter and they do not even send us any. When I say we are neglected, I have not undersold or overstated my facts.
My simple question here is, can a folded local that joined a bigger local get out and restart their folded branch number?
Anyone?

T-6, try contacting your State President or Business Agent and make them aware of your problems. If you are not satisified with being a member of a bigger local one of them ahould be the one to address your concerns.

/M30546 As far as I know, no. My branch merged 30 years ago out of something like five different locals of various sizes and we had some problems with branch unity a few years ago. Our largest station (it would make a mid-size union branch on its own) was rumoured to want out of the branch and I remember reading up on it and not finding anything allowing it.

/30536 I'll tell you what I tell customers who ask me about do-not-mail registries. "I don't know, and if I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway."

T-6 /m30546 -- no. Why are you asking this now? This is the kind of vital information you should have known before you merged. When you merge, it is forever. Also, you said in your office of 11 carriers, "a few" decided to join a larger local. That is impossible, it had to be a majority vote.

john rich........dps percentages are part of bonus program. good luck getting a manager to hold out dps. you could try grieving m-39 125.1 on park and loop routes, trayed letters and flats must be placed in a sequencial order so that the carrier can quickly identify the mail for each loop

Mayntain /m30550 -- sorry, I am with FedUp on this one. This is a board for carriers trying to help carriers, not cowards who take their ball and go home when they don't get their way. Do something instead of running away.

I am a ptf carrier and are sharing my hours with a RCA.yes,Rural carrier associate. And theres not a thing the union will do for me because it's in another office and they need the mail delivered NOW.They can't (all of a sudden)wait a couple hours to get their mail. The RCA was working at a factory that shut down and she now needs hours --any hours-- i'll send her to your station fed up and you can give her some of your hours.

===++++ /m30555 The union's job is to enforce the contract. If excessing is going on in your office, then it's the union's job to make sure that management is doing it correctly. Article 12 was negotiated and agreed to by both parties. The ones out there crying that they're getting excessed and then blaming the union, be thankful that you still have a job, (which you can credit the union for negotiating such measures, in case it ever happened). You're more than welcome to quit your job and go work out in the private sector, and get a job where it's non-union, and see what happens when the economy goes down the toilet. You'll get a pink slip with no recourse. Then you'll blame the President of the U.S. for it. Because your type always look for excuses to avoid any responsibility. And union reps don't get Christmas bonuses.

union YES /m30556 Go ahead and send her my way. Let management take some of my hours and give it to her. I'll go ahead and obey and grieve. Then I'll get free money. Let me know when she's on her way. My route is overburden after our latest MIARAP. I sure could use the help and free money. Thank you. Have you ever heard of chain of command?
