     Yes, the mail has declined, but what difference does it make to the carrier who has one piece of mail for a house, or 10 pieces? They still have to get out of the vehicle, walk up to the house, up the steps, and deliver that one piece of mail...how much more can they add on to us?

     The last two route adjustments I've had a 1/2 hour added unto me each time...now they're proposing another possible 25 minutes? I'm 58...I have possibly 2 8 hour days a week...the rest of the week, I can't make it back on time. And I am not goofing off, and I'm doing my job, and my customers love me. My days of killing myself for this office are over...especially when I see people skating by doing as little as possible, and getting away with it.

     I am done running for this PO.

Well make sure you layoff only mail carriers because the Post office would collapse without the supervisors and postmasters.Without their high intelect and buisness sense the Post office would have gone under years ago.I thank God every day for allowing us to work under these highly motivated hard-working leaders of the buisness world.Nevermind that 90% of them do not have a college degree,they are a gift from God and we should kiss the ground they walk on.

     On another note, we have a fat, lazy 204b, who used to be a carrier, who couldn't handle the work load of being a carrier.

     This individual has been a 204b for over a year...I don't know if they are technically a supervisor yet, so let's assume they're still a 204b.

     If their job is eliminated, and they go back into the carrier craft, are they an unassigned regular, or do they get to bump everyone below them in senority?

     Thanks, egark...so you're saying the 204b..does NOT get to bump everyone on down the line based on their senority...they become an unassigned regular?

     I hate to ask...but do you know what portion of the contract deals with this?

     (I'll light off a bottle rocket in your honor, tomorrow)

Hoot........if the 204B has a permanent assignment and they supervise for more than 120 days, their assigment goes up for bid and I'm quite sure they then become unassigned and therefore open to anything mgt tosses at them.

Joel is right Hoot,

After 120 days in a 204b status, if he goes back to craft he loses his bid and becomes an unassigned regular.

It's in the JCAM Article 41.1.A.2

if the station manager has been looking out for this 204B, he would have periodically put the 204B back into the Carrier's uniform for a few days here and there of carrying mail, to protect his Carrier's status. if this was NOT DONE, then the 204B is left totally exposed; as described by others, he will be Unassigned Regular, and with all the consolidations going on, will likely not have his own route for a LONG TIME...and when he does get a route, it will be a POS. :) happy 4th!

204-b can hold a bid for years if the union does nothing; it's not automatic. If they acted and took that bid away after 120 days, 204-b is unassigned. If it's under 2 years, he starts with day one seniority, and as FTR is he was one already.

m\27657 tincan man; I would never dispute what you have been told but if you get caught in a RIF it will be the written word, ELM, that rules. I was in DOD when several of our plants were closed and people RIF'ed. Anyone drawing retired/retainer pay was considered non-vet. Some said "they can't do this", then said "they shouldn't do this", then said "I can't believe they did this". When they received their termination papers they started to believe, but that is a little late to plan your future. as Ronald Reagan once said, Trust but verify.
