trying to read the rif rules is tough! it's all legalese' like anything it needs to be broken down to basic parts that will affect the indiv in a particular set of circumstances. i remember at the sale of my first new car [i bought]the guy reading the covered parts of warranty would start from the beginning every time i gave him a scenario, or what if this happens question. you really don't know till it happens and they say "catch 22"your not covered!for instance the head gasket goes so catch 22 they don't cover gaskets!!!!!!

thank you clerk T. m/27654

I'm so close to 6 years I hope they drag this out a little longer. But maybe that won't even make any difference.

m/27639 - I retired from the navy after 20 years of service in 2001, only for pay purposes, i draw my pension, but in reality I have 10 years of fleet reserve time to do than i will be considered retired in 2011. THis is also what human resources told me as well when i got hired in 2002. SO even though I am no longer in the Navy, i am drawing a pension, but not considered retired by the post office. dont know how the other branches are.

If mail is ANY indication of the U.S economy we are surely headed for a DEPRESSION! Even the CEO of Fed ex, is very worried about the economy, and has said their is no clarity of future earnings! So its just not us folks! Very scary indeed!

By the way folks, the difference between a good company and a bad company is that the bad company is not PROACTIVE!Major Cost cuts were already made at fed ex, while the USPS was to late at making these same changes!LAYOFFS need to happen right now! We need to get the work force down to 500,000 from 630,000 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Failure to do so, will lead to our demise!

I just ran the numbers and here is what I came up with.

100,000 employee's costing the USPS about 70,000 if you include total benefits.

100,000 times 70,000 gets you a cost savings of SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY! Plus if you add the cost benefit of HR22 passing you get another 3 BILLION in savings! PROBLEM SOLVED!

typical shop stew, take the lazy man's way out and just lay off 130,000 people. Your demise is just as sure as anyone else. Go work for management so you can share you witty points of view

luvthisjob, Laying off 100,000 people is very painful, but if we dont do it, everyone will lose their job! Their is not enough mail to keep everyone in their jobs, so cutting the work force must be done! If you dont believe me, look around your office and check out how much idle time people have. We must act now!

I agree that there is idle time, but that time is created by everyone slowing down, and don't deny it, less mail = slower work. And every office is different, so, like anything else in the PO, there is no consistency in determining how much mail one office gets from another. Obviously, the simple minded readers of this post will deny this and say things like "That's not what the problem is, it's all management's fault" And while I do believe that management is the anti-christ, carriers are to blame as well. I don't care to suck one extra penny out of this place, I just want to deliver my route accordingly, by the rules, and go home to see my family. Instead I watch the same routine, day in and day out, milk it, then milk it some more. We've had a good run ladies and gents, let's try doing it right for a change. "YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE"

I`ve never had so many homes receiving no mail or only one letter as I did yesterday. Something has got to give pretty soon and I hope it isn`t our paychecks.

/m27664 We all just want to do a good job and go home. If the mgt. doesn't like that, tough.
