...Please be advised that Window Clerks will soon be excessed as well, but have now become skilled enough to offer every menu selection @ McDonald's in one single breath :-)

Window clerks are going to be excessed to where? In our office The clerk retired and they never hired a ftr clerk. They kept the ptf position and said there was no ft clerk spot in our office .And the way I understand it,they are doing that in alot of offices.Eliminating the full time spot.So our PTF clerk gets full time hours but not the full time status.

We lost a PTF to retirement, it was adamently stated we would not refill position. Guess what? we're filling position under residual posting.
Its all a game.

/m13040 I expect to lose one of my drawers in a nearby office soon: they got in a FTR to fill the residual; they're close to replacing the PTF who retired early. In another office, the PM is going out shortly; there are several supervisors who want to OIC the office, but don't want to work the window, so since this office never replaced a PTF (who left 4 yrs ago), I fully expect to pick up tons of hours from them. Why can't the offices that need me be closer to home??

Well, at least there is potential for more work. Never ran across an OIC that didn't want to cut, cut, cut. So if you got an office that OIC doesn't want to work the window, good for you.
Latest we heard is our PM will be gone for six months. But hey, it changes day to day.

rumor has it you lost your drawers years ago trying to get into management.

Speak toothless one, speak to us.

I sometimes can't comprehend the OIC's who are PTF's == don't they have a clue that they're shooting themselves in the butt? I guess they really want to move up, but we had a PTF around here that was so horrible: when she was awarded the PM position, the entire town rallied to get her out! They stopped just short of pitchforks, but they called senators & the local news.. it was quite a riot to see that many people despise someone so much!

Its pretty bad when the public is not happy with the PM. I've heard many complaints through the years of various PM's/OIC's but not to the extent that you speak of.
Understandably not a popularity contest but in small towns its not hard to be appreciated if the alternative is someone that is cold in nature. So fortunate for me, I get alot of happy customers that tell me how much they appreciate my work. Sad thing is I'm not doing anything special, it just looks great in comparison.

In small towns, they love you as long as you let them have their way in everything. Worked the PM hours some this week, and spent the whole afternoon fetching PO Box customer Mail. But, het, what else do they have to do {besides all the bulk Mail they held so they could sendclerks home}.

It's actually reverse in my office. I'm a little more lenient, but that's mostly w/ the oldies. There's just no way I can say no to the 94 yr old lady who crochets little table doilies with my name on them!!

/m13045 exactly. The OIC in question is something else -- she has an extremely high opinion of herself. And you don't have to be a kiss-a** -- there's another floating clerk in the area....I described her to my husband as the waitress working nights in a crappy diner bit*hing the entire time she's pouring coffee, but she's a doll at heart!

I am a level 7 lead sales and service associate in Williamsburg va. I was just informed I was going to be excessed to another office because of my level (7). Management is removing the csbcs machines and excessing three clerks. Here is the problem....

There are level 6 and 7 clerks on the machines... Senior mail processors are level 7. Management claims that they can excess level 7 jobs and not level 6 in the installation. The junior regulars in the building are all level 6 with less than 5 years. The three level 7 clerks have 20 years or more. Can they tie me in to excessing because of removal of machines which are not even in my job description?? My job is not being excessed and will be put up for bid after I am gone.

If anyone is in a facility where this is happening can yuo tell me what level they are excessing there??
