/m13030,Yep. I see a promotion out of the area for him. My question is this: Wonder why he was on the streets?? Must have all men clerks/carriers.............that is where the most PMs get their extra curriculars around here!

/m13027 I can just see it now: clerks will be fighting over who had better hours, who got to work in the 'nice' office, who got scheduled farther from home because the PM hates them, 'I'm senior so I won't go/I'm senior so I get picked first', etc.... While it's bad enough around here with the PTF's who literally whore themselves for hours, they're going to turn it into a perpetual grievance field if they have some PM schedule the clerks for multiple offices.

If it's illegal, there are a lot of criminals at the PO.

Boss I knew for years asked why everyone hated new PTF female. Said I can make her run outside the building anytime I want and he looked at me funny. So I said loud enough for her to her "Sorry but I got this to do. She might have the time so find her." She'd drop the mail she was sorting and ran outside for a butt. Boss figured it out and she wasn't happy as much anymore.
She got fired 11 years later for screwing a boss in their building on the clock. He got moved.

Bouncy Clerk, Fortunately I am retired now, but couldn't help but think about one gal that "worked" with me. She had 23 yrs in when I left last year. The gal was absolutely terrified if she thought there was the remotest possibility she might have to any work. She would always tell the supervisor, oh I'm on light duty. Too much of an effort to check and see, so they always let her slide. Years earlier she had been on light duty for several months, but never had it renewed. Also every year she would add a year or so on to her time at the PO. At 20yrs, she had 22, etc. By now she must have about 35 yrs in.Actually a little less than 25, but with her math....... If there is any justice this woman will get excessed about 1000 miles away. I wish.

the work ethic really is the key. There are people who truly believe if they show up for 8 hrs, they've earned their keep. They really don't care if anyone else is affected by their work(or lack of). They look at hub clerks not as assistance but as spies who keep them from stealing penalty time. They know that there is little that can be done to them, so they have to do very little (just keep your fingers out of the cash drawer & the UBBM box & you're untouchable).
We do get played by some; others are just clueless buffoons who have been working the same case for 20yrs & can't see anything that goes on around them. So if you can sleep @ night with the knowledge that you're so pathetic a human being that you can allow someone else to do your work AND you think it's FUNNY to do that, good for you. Most of us are just rolling along - not breaking our backs but doing the right thing most of the time.

This goes on in every P&DCs also, a slug will always complain that they need help and the idiot supervisor will turn to someone like you to do their work.

/m13018 re 'old age step 3's': there was a similar filing in an office near me in 2001; it was settled in March. If the local had 1/2 a brain, you'll throw my @ them & tell them how unwise it would be to let it sit for 7.5 yrs & it's in their (USPS) own best interest to settle mine sooner rather than later. But nothing yet. And I'm truly blessed on Saturdays: I'm in @ 730a & the window doesn't open until 9a. Most of the year I can get all mail sorted/walled + do CFS before I open the window, and then it's just customers the rest of the day. Around the holidays it gets a bit dicey. Our biggest problem is when the plant decides to break up BB&B bundles of WSS & run them w/ the 1st class flats!!

I would add, too, that the "to pmr2ptf" poster works or worked in a large office where the behavior of which he speaks is rampant. Most city folks have NO work ethic because they don't know the people for whom they work, the public.

/m13003, I've had two grievances sitting at step 3 since January of 2002. And I retired a year ago! WNY Clerk, You are usually spot on in your observations and advice. Now, let me give you a little advice; don't bust your ass trying to do the impossible, i.e., 11.5 hours of work in 7.5 hours. Prioritize what absolutely has to be done; Express mail 1st, get the mail & accountables to the carriers and open the window, wall the box mail, priority first than 1st class, while working the window, do box section accountables, forwards & nixies as time permits. Close the window & prepare deposit, even if you haven't finished the other tasks. You can do those after you get the banking done. Now, if you still have time, do the carrier's nixies and forwards (if they don't do them) and prepare for dispatch. If you don't get all that done in time, OH WELL!!! WEBBATS, rent notices, lock changes, etc., etc. will just have to wait 'til Monday! I had a similar situation on Saturdays as a FTR. I cured it by calling the Duty POOM for the weekend to authorize OT so I could get the remaining work done. After 2 Saturdays of calls and a little v time, they "found" a ptf to borrow to help me. I worked half my career "alone" on Saturdays. Hell, the last office I was at, I worked alone even when the PM was there!

Nope I stand by what I said..Your being played...
Lets see in my 30 years their are hundreds and hundreds of times where a person would screw up a job because they did not want to do it and management would just find someone else to do it...in this case you...
Your not special or bright...just wait before you critize me. Pull your head out and watch the other people in the office working...or more like playing like working. It is the government, you screw up and nothing happens, their are always people like you who will jump at this type situation only to find out later that they are just going to keep getting more work while the others laugh, take longer breaks, and wonder why you think your so special and they get the same pay you do.

That's a good thing. I get scheduled for 2 hours before close on a Friday and am expected to catch up everything not done all week!
