This NO Mail Left Behind is an illusion and a lie your being told..Know why..
These supervisors/managers are NOT MEETING HALF WAY TO EXCHANGE MIS-SENT MAIL. THEY ARE SIMPLY PUTTING IT IN THE TRUNK..DRIVING AROUND TO A DROP BOX...THEN GOING OUT EATING LUNCH..THEN COMING BACK..AND SAYING..WELL I GUESS I WILL GO TO LUNCH NOW..
DONT YOU KNOW THE POSTAL SYSTEM YET?

Before I retired a friend of mine took a small amount of mail 75 miles. This was about 3 times a week, and went on for years, probably still doing it. Nice "work", if ya can get it.

/m12072 you are too funny. But duh? you would think there would be a measurement of mail that would make it cost effective before anyone would hit the road to deliver. This stuff is so-o-o sad. Meanwhile my hours are cut and PM's travel the county delivering 2 pieces of mail??? Had ONE Priority flat rate envelope with delivery confirmation today come in back door after the carriers left? The piece will still sit in the office till tomorrow. I'm thinking everyone is so job scared they are afraid to tell the POOM or district manager that this has gotten out of hand.

I just passed a scheme, it was a bid. How long will it take to be placed in the other office. Is it true management can keep you for 45 days?

/m12076 Greetings, The best way to answer the question is by quoting the sections of the APWU National Agreement that addresses these issues - As Quoted: ================================ Article 37.3.F.1.c c. 2. The successful bidder must be placed in the new assignment within 28 days except in the month of December. The local agreement may set a shorter period. 3. a. When the duty assignment requires scheme knowledge, if the senior bidder is qualified on the scheme requirements of the position, assign the employee in compliance with 2 above. If the senior bidder is not qualified on the scheme requirements when the posting period is closed, permanent filling of the duty assignment shall be deferred until such employee is qualified on the scheme requirements. The deferment period shall begin the date the senior bidder is scheduled to report for training.

I had a missent 1C w/ del confirm Friday... the other clerk & I agreed that we should just close our windows for 2hrs & meet in the middle (we're 80 miles apart). For some reason it was acceptable to simply scan the item 'missent' and return it to the plant for resorting......

Bouncy.....it's the P O's definition of service! Makes as much sense as what some other poster's are saying about how people are driving MILES to redirect less than a handful of letters, including standard!Glad I'm outa there!

I actually had 3 pcs wrong that day: I dropped two off during my lunch because I was literally driving past them on my way to the store during my lunch (and you betcha I claimed those 7 miles on eTravel :-)
Now if they could just fix POS to spit out the correct NDC codes on the PVI's again, I will be able to stop thinking while I work.

/m12073 that might be the scenerio in your area. But our PM's are really delivering the mail to other offices. Their handing the mail from their hand to mine, no illusions. But the logic? well?

Update on the craziness of 1-2 pieces of mail being delivered all over the county. POOM has now stated it must be 25 pieces or more. Thank goodness someone put a stop to this madness. Must admit, we're getting better sorting from the plant now too. Hmmm?

6 of us just got our excess letters,so the next day they took us off the floor and made us sit in the break room to prove a point that they didnt need us,they left one person on the window when they usually have 3 and a line out the door ended up happening of course,,,,,,,,,now they put a tv in the break room and told us we can bring movies to work, except porn, since they will be making us sit in the break room every day now even though there is work to do on the floor!!............and we were told that if someone retired the clerk with the least senority would get to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when the person who makes the rules for your office has an office 200 miles away? Gee people no supervisor, station manager, or Postmaster will do anything anymore until the POOM tells them what to do.. AND THEY WILL NEVER EVER TELL THE POOM THAT WHAT HE/SHE JUST TOLD THEM WONT WORK OR IS CRAZY AS BAT SHIT..YOU PEOPLE DONT GET THE IDEA? MUST NOT HAVE SHOWN UP AT THE PO FOR VERY LONG..NO WORK ANYMORE SO SHOWN UP IS A BETTER WAY TO DESCRIBE WHAT A POSTAL EMPLOYEE ERR....DOES FOR HIS/HER PAY

I think what needs to happen is a lawsuit removing the 'contract' over employees to not speak out about their employ with the Postal Service. The fact is, the Contract means NOTHING now, when Managers are so freely disregarding and violating it so freely...just because they figure they can 'bank on' the abundance of union work being its demise. The fact is...with employers disregarding ethics and Contract and basic Human Rights on treatment...there should NEVER be a 'GAG ORDER' on us! I for one am ready to send about thirteen zillion letters, e-mails, and faxes to every media outlet and independent news reporter out there.
