Pablo,

The Miller Dynamo unit has a manual ignition advance, which is controlled by a cable to a lever on the handlebars. I do not recall ever having seen one with an automatic ignition advance, but it would be possible.

Hi Pablo

Your English is a bit difficult to understand,
however:

Dynamo - generates power for lights nothing to do
with ignition, so no advance/retard.

Magneto - generates spark for plug - usually fitted
with a manual advance/retard using a cable. On a Lucas
Magneto (or Magdyno), it is obvious where the
advance/retard cable enters the unit. You should be
able to tell easily if there is a manual advance by
looking at the area of the ignition "points" assembly.

Suggest you Google Search the Web for "Lucas Magdyno".
You should be able to find useful literature.

Regards
Martin Walton

Hi, as a new member/owner a few naive questions if anyone thinks can help!
Just bought a '93 350 semi-trailised. Cosmetically quite good. Starts easy (even though I've not used a kick start for over 30 years!), seems to run fine, BUT doesn't want to idle (perhaps becasue recently fitted with a trail high-level pipe and/or fact that had been allowed to run out of petrol). I am NOT a mechanic and happy to throw some money at it (it was a choice between the Bullet or a 3 grand Harley, chose the RE simply on light weight). Already thought of new/better(?) carb, electronic ignition and whatever else needed, but no RE dealer near me...
So, is carb/ign best place to start spending and if so does anyone know of a decent shop/mechanic in/near Nottingham (England!)?
Thanks in advance. d.j.

Point One ,It Depends on what carb is fitted (Ie?:Mikuni / Amal or Other?)
or could beas simple as an Air leak.

Craig, my thanks! And SO near (I'm in Carlton).
Fitted a "mute" into the exhaust system today (in what I suspect is a vain hope that it will pass MoT). That with a bit of fiddling with the air screw seems to have got it idling fine. The carb is a MikCarb.
I'll drop you a PM.

Yippee! A nice new Ticket despite being a main contender in the "loud saves your life" stakes!

In answer to Dave Jones. It sounds like you have an air leak in the system. It's possibly a crack in the rubber before or after the carb. While you are at it, have the jets blown through with compressed air. Another problem I foud with mine was the float setting. It was taking too long to open the needle valve. Now set to 28mm and works ok. With carb off, and inverted measure from top of float to carb body. Look up hand book if you have access to one. Try one thing at a time or will not know what the problem was. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know what problems I am likely to have fitting a 350 Bullet engine into a 250 Continental / Crusader frame?
I believe that this is a common conversion for pre65 trials bikes, but can find very little on the WWWeb.
thanks.

Actually, I have seen a 500cc Bullet engine in a Crusader frame. Looked very awkward but it did go in after some work on the rear mounts.

Triumph 350 or 500 unit twin is a good fit and engine
plates are available. folding footrests required for
kickstart clearance and reversed gearchange lever are
the only issues I know of. A good engine frame match
and Trifield is a nice name!

Hi all, Has anyone here any experience with the 1963 Unit construction Bullet. I have the crank out at the moment and looks very similar to the non unit bullet conrod and big end. anyone know if they are the same? Main bearings look like crusader items (crank cases very similar) with additional phos bronze bush on the primary side. Also anyone know what size carb its supposed to have as the head looks to be identical to crusader sports (barrel obviously a lot longer)

Mike
