I just put a bunch of links on my mp3 page, redirecting people to other websites, where I put up most of my music. I only left a couple of songs on mp3.com.
There is no reason mp3.com should remain the top music site! There's far too much competition, where the webmasters use artist fee's to help independent bands. Mp3.con is the worst kind of capitalist pig there is... where just like the major record labels, they're slowly trying to squeeze every nickel out of their artists. For what? To pay the signed artists, who in turn draw thousands of empty headed teenagers to their site. Ugh...
...and from all the money they've got, have they made a contribution to the disaster relief fund?... FAT CHANCE!!! Pricks...

:)I was a bit surprised too... now imagine how many others are feeling and thinking the same that Dan said, that don't know of this message board ... I think lots and lots of musicians gradually but steadily, have stoped updating their mp3.com pages .
All the other sites are becoming much more interesting then mp3.com, anyway... and without PAS!... hehe

heh didn't think anyone came here anymore.
lesson in logic...
as more people join PAS the less a privalage and advantage it is to be a PAS member.

Yea, this PAS is bullshit, I'm paying $20 a month to get less than $8. If we all cancel it, then they'll be sorry.

got one today as it happens, gave it the once oever, basically blagging about their new wonderous "copyright" shit i think you have to pay, although you could just simply post yourself a cd containing your own stuff (raw data or audio or whatever), an unopened parcel date stamped with your work in it is good enough for a court and only costs the postage!

I'm not very sure if I really succeeded in stoping the spam... but after having unsubscribed from all their unsolicited crap except the artist newsletter, it looks like I stoped them. However, though I didn't unsubscribe the artist newsletter, it's been a whille now since the last one... Have they already invented some new dirty tricks that I missed?... :)

if you did stop the spam, you'd probably miss out on the next artist fuckover they might have planned. (hmm i chose to use the word "might" then)

You're right about mp3.com's spam practices. They keep bombarding ALL my 3 email boxes with the most stupid crap you can imagine. And it helps very little to click the unsubscribe link, because after I unsubscribe from, say, "rock@mp3.com" they will change to other stupid "newsletter" title, like for example one, "premiumlistner@mp3.com" (that's a truly ridiculous title,'cause I never listen to anything anymore from their site!) and continue to overflow my mail boxes with their shit. And mind you, I never subscribed to any "rock" or "premiumlistner"@mp3.com newsletters, so this is truly UNSOLICITED mail! I'm geting really pissed off about this, and I already thought of reporting them to some anti-spam organization, but I don't know of any. Any advice?...

"reviewing" sites as possible... good reviews get's your foot in the door. It's like building a resume.

NEver NEVER NEVER, have I gotten an email like that, and taken it seriously. If you are active on mp3.com's message boards and such, you will get constantly bombarded with spam bullshit like that. The only emails I reply to are ones that site specific songs of mine. Or anything that is unique. This "I checked out your stuff and I really liked it... check out my stuff at..." crap, is a chicken shit disguise at trying to personalize a form letter. Honestly... I have never sent an email like that to anyone I've listened to and liked. It's an insult. Anyway, enough of that. Fuck mp3.com. It is not an outlet for the aspiring indie artist. Infact... nobody on the internet really cares about the indie artist. You can plaster yourself all over the internet, and it's not going to make a difference. I've pulled almost all of my shit off of mp3, save for a couple of songs. and the only reason I left them there is because I'm on a couple of stations that are promoting far beyond mp3.com. If you'll check out my mp3 page, you'll notice that I HEAVILY direct most traffic to ampcast. Fuck mp3.con. Despite the reasons I remain at mp3.com at all... i still think I'm going to permanantly remove myself from this site. I will leave a link for anyone that comes here looking for HIDEOUS INPUT, but that's it! Anyway, I've learned that there is not much we can do as artists, save for not participating. It is obvious now that mp3's PAS scheme was geared towards their big vivendi merger. Vivendi want's nothing to do with indie artists. They are only about what sells. Fine. When any of us get famous, let's remember that these fucking sites did NOTHING to help us. It's all footwork gentlemen, and gentlewomen. Promote, promote, promote. Mp3.com as well as many others, is a waste of time. All you need is one decent site to host your music, so make it a site that doesnt segregate their artists, like mp3.com does. hoo boy, long message. My fingers hurt! Over and out...

I've been thinking about what H.I. said below... the question is... How?... any suggestions?
Also, I keep geting "fan-mail" messages of the type" I liked your music, check ours at www.mp3.com/OurBand, etc. ... I usually take a look and listen to some of their songs, and then always tell the guys that my mp3.com page is no longer updated, that they should go instead to my ampcast or iuma pages, but after that I just never get an answer ... My conclusion is that this PAS paying guys are so blinded by mp3.com that they exclude everything else in a most "autist" fashion... oh, well... what can I do, then?...

Yup... one of the many new and wonderfully useful changes mp3.com has made. Or should I say, Vivendi.com. Whatever... I don't think enough of the artists on mp3 have backed their dissaproval of PAS with action. There are many many many sites to upload music to on the internet. I suggest driving as much traffic as possible to them, and removing most of your music from mp3.com. At least disable your songs. That way, you can still sell mp3.com manufactured cd's through this site. Mp3.com has not suffered enough damage to rethink their ridiculous PAS scheme... and as long as they are at the top of the food chain, they will continue to eat us alive. Only way to knock em down is to remove a large chunk of their traffic... Namely the independent crowd. Obviously, the 25 percent of the top of the billboard charts isn't going to give a rats ass about what's going on here, but things are changing at mp3.com so fast and furious that it would make any investor nervous... and what kind of idiot investor is going to sink money into a company like that? PAS is a way to make up for the lack of funds they are getting from real investors...
anyway, Ampcast.com will soon be the best place to manufacture and sell cd's that I have yet to come across... as soon as their system is up. WAAAAY better than mp3.com and their cd billboard system. Well worth the 20 bucks a year, if you're not already grandfathered in. Check it out.
