Museum Update
All,
The group of civic and business leaders in Pascagoula that are working very hard to bring Ticonderoga home have hired a company to do an engineering study. This study is just one part of the government's requirements in order to donate the ship to the museum project. The study is supposed to answer questions such as how the ship will be secured. What kind of mooring system is required to survive a direct hit from a hurricane? What kind of maintenance plan for the ship's exterior will be required given the environment? And that's just for starters. The study should be nearing completion.
As we are all painfully aware, the federal government likes it's paperwork. There are many hurdles to get past before the ship is donated and turned into something we all can get very excited about and this is just the beginning.
These folks are committed to perform due diligence with regards to the project and have already given many hours of their valuable time towards the project. We need to encourage them and let them know how much we appreciate their efforts. Dr. Jack Hoover is one of these leaders that have taken leadership of this project. If you get a chance, drop him a note at the following address;
Dr. Jack Hoover c/o Gulf Coast OB/GYN 4507 Hospital Street Pascagoula, MS 39581
I know that the project members met last night and I am just waiting on word on what was discussed. If anything major came up, I, or David Henclewski will pass it on.
Regards, Bill Deery

I almost forgot.
Mrs. Delores Early, who has posted to this group, is the Executive Secretary for the project. She is a very good source for information regarding the status of the project. She can be reached at savethetico10@yahoo.com.
Please let these folks know how much they are appreciated.
Regards, Bill Deery

Does anyone have any information or perhaps was a shipmate of John P. MacDonald. A coxswain who was killed in the kamikaze attack in Jan. 1945?
