We have these S.o.B.coming into this great country living on welfare and bombing Boston and they are making hard working Americans lose Money. Give me a _ucking break.Stop these students from coming into this country and tell your congressman to stop this bullsh_t we might not have to lose pay. Your kids do not get to go to school for free. If the unions don't get this lets get rid of them. These Unions Are living high on the Hog while we are taking in our as_ also our pay check.

Unless a political party has 60 members they will never "control" congress for our benefit. Currently congress is involved in their own ego stroking. So while I agree the Unions could advertise what they are doing, we can't say they are in control and we are losing. Unions need to do some advertising and put a face to government workers so that the public can see who we really are. I believe they think of government workers like congress. As long as that happens we lose.

Everyone needs to thank there Unions for backing the Democratic party they have not done a thing for us. They have been in control for the last 4 years and we have not recieved a annual pay raise. An now we are losing a day of pay a pay period stop blaming the Republicans and put the blame were it belongs. They sit there and tell us they are working for us and do nothing. If this works this year why not next year stop the games and start punshing the groups that are hurting us.They all tell the groups that vote for them what they want to hear and still screw them over. All Unions should get together and tell them they will never support them again if they don't do somthing now.

Si- if you are like most Fed employees you have enough vacation time banked to take annual leave and go fishing, you do not need furloughs without pay to do that. The finacial tidalwave coming that will drown newer employees in debt is not something we want and I can't make light of it. We do not want these newer workers getting fed up and leaving for the private sector. I have read comments from newer fed workers saying they will stop paying student loans if they are furloughed, thing is they can't do that. They will lose thier security clearances if they default on thier student loans-- but they dont know better. I still have a student loan and believe me if I could shed it after paying on it for 14 years and 45k in interest, while only paying 8k in principle I would-- I got stuck with a 7.25% rate! I am mid career and I can see the old timers looking at the clock here and soon they are going to be gone and there won't be anyone to take over when they leave. In the long run this benefits me as I will have my pick of promotions when these jobs are finally freed up but there has to be someone below my level to take over our jobs. We are going to be hurting for labor at the DoD in a few short years.

If you think about it, these furloughs are great, for Obama's and Congress' buddies...The Banksters...Now you'll have to use your credit cards to survive...A perfect plan..
BTW Air Traffic Control will use unscheduled Overtime to cover for the furlough days...Costing the government even more money! Of course you honest people have to take your day off, and lose pay...
Let's see which ATC facilities try to get away with this fraud..

#971 "education is not a necessity beyond grade school levels" Going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. We are no longer a farm-based economy and people without higher education are not going to be able to even stay afloat the way things are going. You need not only a high school diploma, but at least some college or trade school now in order to support a family and have a decent standard of living now. Even with two people working in the home, we have lost so many good paying union jobs and tech jobs that we are slowing devolving into a 3rd world socialist economy. We are being conditioned to expect lower and lower pay while everything goes up due to inflation. In the 3 years of pay freezes, my health insurance has gone up 30% and gas and food have risen by about 20%. As a FED IT worker I am underpaid by about 20-30% below my peers in private industry. The pay freeze has only broadened the gap and if I cannot even count on my annual salary becuase every fiscal year I am furloughed, I am going to go work for a contractor and make more money so I can have the standard of living my parents and grandparents once had. If my service is not valued anymore, if my paycheck is now nothing more than a debit card for Obama and the congress to take out funds to pay for thier haircuts, expense accounts and pork projects like protecting Monsanto Corp from litigation [slipped into last spending bill], then I will roll the dice on the outside and leave and I bet I will not be the only one. I encourage all Federal employees not to forget how our elected politicians choose to destroy the federal employees. We need all Federal employees to remember that the Republicans had been promising for the last four plus years to come after the Federal workers because we are so overpaid, so why are we surprised that we find ourselves in this situation? I find it amazing that Repubs, (I hold the Repubs responsible because they control the money and they have continually blocked every attempt to get this Country financially stable again) were outraged that the Easter Egg Roll may not get funded, yet they released money for that; our Veterans, and I have nothing but respect for every man or woman that served our Country, yet to release funding for Tuition Assistance when education is not a necessity beyond grade school levels shows the truth behind Congress actions. Thousands of Federal employees may be evicted because most live paycheck to paycheck and will have to choose between daycare, food or gas, yet the two examples above shows how this has nothing to do with the budget or spending or shared sacrifice, but it's all about those in powers and their abilities to destroy at will those they consider beneath them and not deserving of the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Let's not forget the pain they have inflicted when it comes time to vote. Stop this blind loyalty. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

As a civilian federal employee, my salary and pay increases have been frozen; but my expenses (health care, property taxes, food costs, fuel costs, etc) keep increasing. Our home is underwater because the housing market dropped. I am frustrated by the media who seem to lump all federal employees as over paid. I work hard and earn every penny of my salary; which is NOT anywhere near $100K. It saddens and humbles me that my husband and I can't even contribute a significant amount to our child's last year of college. We're having to make choices between food and medical care (prescriptions). It gets increasing difficult not to feel depressed about our economy. Equally difficult, it's hard not to feel anger at the politicians who act like children and can't compromise for the overall good of the people who elected them to their positions. I am losing faith in our government's ability to do their jobs.

How is anyone supposed to plan for the next few months with a cloud over our heads. I agreed to work for the DoD at a set amount of salary for a set amount of work and outstanding performance. I have done my part of the deal and now at the end of the fiscal year they shave off money from my paycheck and reduce my annual salary to below what I made as a GS 11 in 07. As a female civilian it was a hard fight to get my promotions and get to where I am now and I worked 2x harder then many of my male counterparts who seemed to get promoted automatically without effort. Contrary to what some think, women do not get easy promotions and are often marginalized at work and not given the credit they deserve. My concern is they will pull this same BS on us next year this time and reduce our salaries even more. I already suffer through 3 years of no cola and if they think they can use this as a backdoor way of reducing my salary I will leave and go to private sector and make 30k-40k more a year then I am making now. I really thought I was doing something good for my country by being a public servant but now I feel like I am being robbed by congress and the president and my morale is shot and now I feel like maybe the private sector will appreciate my skills and experience and pay me accordingly. The worse part of this is I can't work for some of the companies that would be the best fit because they are a contractor for us. Another fine perk of my job. So I am NOT going to celebrate that I am only being robbed for 14 days of pay vice 22 days. They are making a huge mistake with thier workforce and will lose the very people they worked so hard to attract and retain-- thier best and brightest. I may not be one of them but I know I am in the top group as far as my abilities, education and experience and I am sick of this. Edited 03-29-2013 03:05 PM
