I invite all to review the messages from 581-606, and decide if Chad Barnard is the type of person you wish to associate with. Besides the vitrulent attacks upon me, Chad has also put down or defamed many others.

I request NCCA decide whether such persistent, irresponsible, willful personal attacks are tolerable. I request the leadership allow the membership to censure Chad Barnard or even deny him further membership in NCCA. His unprovoked attacks reflect on the good name of NCCA.

Scott we're also trying to figure out who put that message on our site. If you didn't notice it had two of our members on the list and our friends from Charlotte.

It even had Mike McHale who is a great friend to Austin Chess. That's why we don't approve of anonymous posting. So don't think it was from us.

On the other matters I'll have to let the officers decide.

Congratulations Scott!

Austin Chess Club site is no more. Due to incinuations of legal action by you, our host site has demanded we be removed immediately.

After the comments I made I was sincerely regrettful and told everyone so. Not because what I said wasn't true but alot of people through the ranks of the NCCA told me of your checkered past and litigious nature.

I thought surely no rational intelligent adult could get that bent out of shape over opinions. But I was wrong.

We were planning big things to spread the word of chess too. We were setting into motion daily global and local news updates, coverage of all/most of the local tournaments, a learning page with instruction form the area masters, experts and "A" players. All of this free of charge and we weren't paid at all except for the love of doing it. Compare that with the motives and track record of gru-bell.

Most of the blame lies with me though. I should of wondered why everyone talked about Mr. Gru-Bell the way I did but never aloud. Chalk it up to newcomer ignorance. But I opened my mouth and now have to suffer the consequences which is losing something dear to me.

All I ask is that people sincerely make an effort to meet me at a tournament or whatever and I think you'll see that I'm a very likeable person and my extreme dislike for gru-bell fueled most of my negative posts.

It's sad that someone who doesn't even live in NC can cause so much turmoil in the NCCA.

Neal you don't have to have a meeting to discuss whether to censure me or expel me from the NCCA. I withdraw from the NCCA and will refrain from posting another message on this board.

Everyone else I've met has been great and I look forward to seeing you again and meeting the others I had discussions with on this board. Especially Martin Roper who through our discussions seems like someone I'd get along with.

Best Regards

Chad Barnard

In response to any misunderstandings about Rolf Wetzel's rating and the book he wrote, he DID make master, he just fell below it and hasn't made it back, since. Nowhere in his book did we claim he was a Master at the time the book was published. If he was, we would've put NM before his name, just like we always do. What we said was, he made master beyond the age of 50, which is a great feat in itself. I don't know if this all started because people thought he wasn't qualified to write a book with that title, or what. As far as Mr. Wetzel's chess strength goes, since the publication of that book I have received several emails and letters from players that read his book and then had the chance to play him over the board. The general idea behind the letters was, 'Mr. Wetzel used the techniques he wrote about in his book, and crushed my ass with them.'

By the way, thanks for the kind words I read on a couple of the messages about his book being good. If ya don't got it, buy it! There's only a few left....

The Austin Chess Club is alive and well.
The website has been shutdown due to the lost of our current host.
Hopefully the website will be back up soon with a new host and improved controls related to our discussion page.
Thank You Chad Barnard for all the hard work and a good looking club website.

Chad, you are "NOT WRONG"...Scott is not rational (I won't even get into the other adjective, I could write a whole book on it). If you've ever met the guy in person, you'd see what I mean.

To all NCCA members: For all Neal Harris has done for North Carolina chess, please vote him back into the office of President at the NC State Championships Oct. 4-6. We need more leaders who work so hard for the organizations they serve.

Jonathan: I believe the candidates are Neal Harris and Leland Fuerstman.

Drew: I think that there would be(perhaps a mailed ballot) but I don't know for sure.

The current president, Neal Harris, could answer these questions better than me.

Neil,

Whoever wrote message 724 ought to be banned...it was not me...this is the "Real" Patrick speaking. As you can see, to go along with the problem of false names, people are putting messages up under other people's names.

I suggest a new message board where login and password are required.
