Mr Munnell, you would not have to renew your NCCA memmbership, because there would not be an NCCA

Patrick,
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the State Championship you so vehemently detest was funded by the CCC and directed by Leland?

Neal, not only do I honorably accept your apology, but also apologize for my immaturity as well; especially at the State last year. It's embarrassing to reflect on my actions and at the same time, call myself an adult. The tension is finally over, and I hope we can be FRIENDS Neal. thanks and take care.

Patrick, I am so very glad that you gave me an opportunity to clear up some of your misconceptions..yes,the NCCA is doing much better financially, two years ago we were bankrupt..and thanks for giving me somewhat undeserved credit..but to suggest that I would be a good treasurer shows a basic misunderstanding of the Sec/tres. duties..the Sec/tres is the bookeeper of the NCCA..in years past the position was usually held by a CPA..the sec./tres. job is far beyond my skills..the sec/tres. does not make the NCCA it's monies..the great financial improvement in the NCCA is because the majority of NC players now believe in the NCCA enough to pay their dues, the TD's and organizers have enough confidence in the NCCA to require NCCA dues..this is the job describtion of the president,to bring monies in and then make wise decisions on the NCCA expenses..comparing the 2001 NC Closed to the 2000 NC Open is like comparing Mc Carthys to McHales..one tourney was open, the other closed..a more rational comparsion would be the 2000 NC Open to next weeks 2002 NC Open.. also both are in Burlington...you are misinformed that the 1st VP is responsible for the State Championship..I will be happy to show you the NCCA bylaws..the 2001 NC Closed was not ran by the NCCA..the person that you often vilify,VP Leland Fuerstman and the CCC sponsered the 2001 Closed, not as 1st VP but as an act of philanthropy because the NCCA could not..Patick,I remember talking to you at the tourney..at no time did you register any complaints to me,the NCCA president concerning the tourney..you did not like the 2001 Closed, and you do not like how the NCCA was ran the last two years...I think that you are in the minority, but entitled to your opinions..if I am re-elected ,then it will be the majority voicing their opinions,I hope you can accept their opinions as we have listened to yours, thanks again, best regards

I am getting sick of all this bickering. Aren't there any responsible people in NCCA? I wanted to go to my first tournament next weekend in Burlington. But, I'm not interested in supporting such immaturity. I'm gonna stay home and play on the internet.

/m698 Marty says Leland Fuerstman doesn't require NCCA membership for his monthly tournaments. Is this true?? Is Marty trying to villify the VP?

I am confused as to why a local chess club tournament should require state membership. If you want to go ahead. But it would be unusual in my experience. I have been a member, at various times, of the Cobb County Chess Club, Charlotte Chess Club, and Atlanta Chess Club and have played in local or club tournaments in Augusta, Charleston, Columbia, Southern Pines, etc and not paid state membershp at any of them.

To ALL NCCA members;several items...(1) there are rumors indicating that all class winners at the 2001 NC Closed will be recieving a free entry into the 2002 Open..this is INCORRECT,at no time did the 2001 NC Closed ad state this fact(2) the agenda for the 2002 business meeting is as follows..Call to Order,Officer Report,Old Business(Denker Tourney),New Business(2003 NC Championship being Open or Closed,Scholastic Changes/format,Message board/Changes),Open to the Floor,Vote on Hall of Fame,Vote on New Officers...and lastly(3)I am VERY Close to pulling the plug on the NCCA message board until we have a chance to discuss it at our meeting, the constant bickering, name calling, anonymous posts and general negatity makes NC look very bad to the outside world..if posts continue as they are,I WILL PULL THE PLUG MONDAY AFTERNOON..hope to see everyone at the NC Championship

Neal I would hope most comply to benifit the ones who are using it as a proper chess format. It may be better to somehow moderate it as some suggested. The reason I say this is, this Is a benifite that most by paying their dues were under the impression they would have as part of those dues. I do think the bickering should stop. I also believe like Neal said that in our brotherehood we don't want to look like a bunch of fragmented individuals. While I know all will not see eye to eye, we can think sometimes of the way we phrase things so as not to come across as combative or abrasive. I think they call it "tact" for short, with a little thought before we push (submit message) I have the confidence that all my brothers of the NC Chess Association can without ticking another brother off.

Eugene, I fully believe that this message board has been great..ideas and opinions posted, serious debate, discussions and sincere give and take..honest venting, questions,or misconceptions clarified..the reason that this board is so good is because it is not censored..just look at the number of posts..I will NOT be pulling the plug,at worst I will be starting a new page...But this topic deserves discussion at the 2002 Business meeting..I repeat: Anyone concerned as to the direction of the NCCA should show up in Burlington Oct.4/5/6

The Austin Chess Club, www.interstatesign.com/austin has a message #105 from "the Home Office", establishing a list of chess "jerks". They include Patrick McCartney, Leland Fuerstman, Klaus Pohl, Mike Buaiz, Jon Munnell, Charles L., Steve Greenless (sic), Allen C., Mike McHale.
I suggest each of these persons check this defamation out right away. I have emailed the officers of Interstate Sign to inform them of this misbehavior, suggesting they consult with their attorney. My email is sc29715@hotmail.com.
