Here's an alternative to the iMusic Tempts BBS until when and if they get their bugs straightened out. I don't know about you all, but I have been going through withdrawls!
Ivory Fair  2
01-06-2001 09:01 PM central
So, what do we think the Tempts chances of actually winning that Grammy are?
Melody  3
01-06-2001 09:05 PM central
Hey (((((Ivory))))! You had me cracking up about going through withdrawals. I haven't gone through withdrawals yet. I think the Temptations chances of winning the Grammy are Great. Oh I hope they win, and I hope they perform a song from the new cd. TTYL!

My goodness that was fast! I just created this thing 10 mins ago and someone showed up! I knew you'd be here (((((Melody,)))) you're a trooper! Unfortunatley, I don't think the Tempts chances of winning are very good. They didn't win for "Phoenix" and I think that was a better album (and it sold better.) But who knows? I was surprised that they were even nominated.

One of the neat things about this is you can get messages my mail, kind of like on the Yahoo clubs.

Thank God (((((Ivory))))) I was just thinking it was me and iMusic. I hope the temps win the Grammy. I have never heard of anyone else that was going for the same thing, plus, the Temptations are better then they are anyway! :-) (((((Melody)))))

“Baby” yes, we all know the Tempts are better than the rest of the nominees in their group, unfortunatley, I don’t think the Grammy voters know that! :-) ……. Ok, everybody, the storm is over, time to go back home now.

Ivory Fair  16
01-09-2001 08:44 PM central
IMusic is doing it again! ……….. Mighty, since I’ve never heard of any of the other nominees in their category, I’ll take your word for it. I’d love to see them win, I’d just be surprised. I hope that category is broadcast and isn’t one of the ones that is a “previously handed out awards,” it would be nice just to see them in the audience. ……. Hey Andi!
Ivory Fair  17
01-09-2001 08:45 PM central
Another neat thing about this board is that you can edit and delete your messages AFTER you post. I wish we had that on iMusic, I know there is a LOT of things I’ve said that I’d like to delete!!! :-)
Qbunny  18
01-09-2001 10:28 PM central
IVORY, sad to say, that is one of the categories that can sometimes be pushed into the "oh this happened too" part of the show where you only see a still shot of the winner accepting the award. I think the biggest comp would be from Will Downing.
Ivory Fair  19
01-09-2001 10:38 PM central
You all are going to have to educate me on who these other people are. Our only R&B radio station here is anything but diverse. I know every song every rap act out of Memphis, Atl. or New Orleans has put out over the past year, but I've never heard of the performers in the T's category. What are some of their songs? ........ To this day I've yet to hear anything off of "Ear" on my local station.

Ivory...what did you do to Imusic now...Biggest competition of the Temps 2000 will Be Johnnie Taylor. Since he's been in the music business for forty years, and passed away last year, he'll be the sentimental favorite.
Ivory Fair  21
01-09-2001 11:10 PM central
Qbunny and I blew it up because things had gotten out of control!!! (KIDDING!!!!!) ....... Johnny Taylor.... ok... the only thing I know about him is you all talking about him when he passed. Yep, he'll be big competition, they'll be a push to give it to him posthumously.
David Sea Fan  22
01-09-2001 11:21 PM central
SEA..'They' were right all along..you and Qbunny do control all that happens in Cyberspace. Y'all are my heros:-) I've got lots of Johnnie on Napster if you want to hear him, also have David Sea's new duet he recorded with a lady named Keisa Brown.

Hey hey....is this where the party is??? I thought it was just MY computer that wouldn't let me on to IMusic....
Ivory Fair  24
01-10-2001 12:08 AM central
Sea Fan, I'll have to check that out, esp. that David S. duet. ....... hey Edy!!!! One way we can all tell if it's us or iMusic is to try and access another site. If iMusic is the ONLY one you can't access, then you know it's them.
Ivory Fair  25
01-10-2001 12:13 AM central
Oh wait a minute. Sea Fan, I see on your Napster song list that one of Taylor's songs in "Starting All Over Again." Is that the one that goes "Starting all over again is gonna be tough on us, but we're gonna make it...." I know that one!
David Sea Fan  26
01-10-2001 01:03 AM central
Ivory..You've got it..that is the song. SEA you do know some other soul music besides The Temptations:-)
EdyGirl  27
01-10-2001 01:41 AM central
Wow..."Starting All Over Again" was a Johnny Taylor song?! I'm thrilled to learn that! Our buddy Brother Iz (Israel Kamakawiwaole) released it on his last cd and it always brought tears to my eyes. I knew the song was a part of my 'memory bank' from somewhere, but I didn't know it was Johnny's. Makes it all the more special! G'night my Tempts Pals....see you in the morning light!
qbunny  28
01-10-2001 10:51 AM central
SEA, is Johnny Taylor the "Disco Lady" guy?...IVORY, George Duke usually does mostly jazzy stuff. Jeffrey Osborne has a new CD out obviously but was big back in the 80s with "Plane Love," "Don't You Get so Mad About It" and other songs. Will Downing is the bomb. He is jazzy/R&B. He remade Angie Bofil's "I Try" among other things.

hmmmmm....... well, the Tempt's better win or I'll throw a fit!!! HAHAHA! (just kidding) :-)
Ivory Fair  30
01-13-2001 07:40 AM central
Hey now, I know who Jeffery Osborne is, so I guess the other nominees in that category aren’t totally foreign to me. He sings that, you know, that song. ….. Yeah “Baby” you and me both!

01-13-2001 07:42 AM central
I wonder if the Tempts are somewhere having fish and chips right now ........ or maybe blood pudding. I've always wanted to go to England (the mother land, ha ha.) Yet another reason it SUCKS to NOT be a Tempt!!!!
David Sea Fan  32

Darn...Ivory & Q..wish y'all would find another way to have fun besides jacking with the imusic boards:-) Q..Yes, that is the same singer who made that awful song a hit. It's his worst song, in my opinion. Dbaby, get ready to be mad...Johnnie Taylor is going to win that award...this prediction is coming from the same lady who knew Washington was going to win the super bowl.

Yeah! You go onto the computer trying to get to the Temps board but you can't!!! Oh! And Elysia needs help. She's reading Otis' book and found out about his affiars and is now driving my crazy! All she ever talks about now is how wrong he was. I try to tell her that he's sorry but she won't concider the fact the he might not be doing it anymore and he said he was sorry. Does he ever say anywhere that he's sorry? (just to give you a clue of how upset she is, she was crying one time!)
Ivory Fair  44

Hey Dinah and Kalisa! ............. So iMusic was down again today huh? I hope my post fest didn't have anything to do with that. :-/ .... "Baby" here's the thing. We have to remember that these men are just that, men. Whether or not someone wasn't living on the straight and narrow, whether it be infidelity, drug abuse, etc., doesn't take away from the fact that they are/were great entertainers. At the same time, we can't put these men on pedestals morally just because they stand on pedestals talent-wise. If we do, I'm afraid we are setting ourselves up for dissapointment. What they do in their personal lives is none of our business. They owe us a good show, good album, etc., but that's it. Otis could be the biggest ho this side of hell but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's an outstanding businessman and entertainer and THAT'S what we have to admire him for. I'm not saying he is one, I'm just speaking hypotheictally. I know one thing, if I were in his line of work I wouldn't have gotten married that second and third time, I would stay as single and unattached as I possibly could, you know? Too much, um, temptation. :-)

I was wondering if you all were still posting over here. I'm sitting here trying to remember Johnny Taylor songs. The only one that comes to mind is "IT'S CHEAPER TO KEEP HER", right? BTW, who were the other names in the R&B catagory with the Temps?

To the tune of "There was a wise old king" ...... "There was this crazy thing, they called the Tempts BBS it was up but oh look now, you see it's down again. And when it's up it's up, and when it's down it's down, but sometimes it's only half way up, it's neither up nor down." :-)
qbunny  50

IVORY, there is ONE GOOD THING about the BBS being down!...DBABY, let me stress one more thing from Ivory's explanation. Otis is a MAN. Not laying blame on either side from his relationships, but you will learn in life that MEN have a totally different outlook on relationships. And remember my email to you? See, just another life lesson learned early to help you all out later :))
qbunny  51
01-17-2001 09:52 AM central
MIGHTY, I think Johnny should have gotten with Otis, cause I think if anybody could, he'd find some way to disprove that song. Will Downing, Johnny Taylor, George Duke, Jeffrey Osborne.

kalisa2  65
02-16-2001 02:45 PM central
QB...I'd go for that (rose/mauve/burgundy)...as long as it was a bit subdued. I wouldn't even mind a green scheme as long as it wasn't eye-blasting kelly/chartruese/nile combos
Elysia81505  66

I knew one of our techie fam-members would hook something up for us. That Imusic crap don't make no sense. It freezes and shuts my whole computer down. And it is still ugly green. I thought it was cool that you could retrieve all the post that a person has written but when I tried to retrieve all 332 of mine that's when my trouble began. Now who is our Imusic spokesman that got them to give Melvin and Damon their own board and correct the corrupt and all. Can that person step forward and let them know the look, the feel ain't working litterally. The only good thing is that like DiscussionApps it clearly shows who is responding to who which would hopefully clear up all the talking in code about me crap. But then again people could still punk out and post brand new over and over again.
Ivory Fair  71
06-19-2001 10:48 PM central
We all just need to email them and tell them that not only do we NOT like it, but pretty soon there won’t be any of us around to BUY MUSIC FROM THEM!!!! ……… You can go back and read all of your old posts???? What a narcissistic trip down memory lane that would be for me! This new board isn’t so bad after all!! (ha ha)

Well, in the two-and-a-half years I've been at iMusic, they had pretty much left well-enough alone as far as the addresses and the format. Sure, there were the little annoying changes with design and color, and they even axed the "true" anonymous option....but overall, everything was cool. Too good to last? Yup - of course! We had been getting off "scot-free" for too long...you knew they had to come along and shake things up sooner or later! And I'm speaking of changes that I have yet to see, because I've tried going to the new address, and my computer only loaded all the glaring, tacky ads, and was taking too long to load everything else. (it annoys me when the ads are the first to pop up when a page is loading....)

(((ov))) Only problem with threatening not to buy music from them any more is that I never did in the first place, and nuthin from nuthin isn't very much :D . My experience with Bulletin boards is always hating changes, they always mess up a good thing, but over time you get used to it. If they can speed up the process over there, we'd learn to deal with it. I CAN'T deal with having to find some other trouble to get into while the durn thing loads.
Ivory Fair  77
06-19-2001 11:22 PM central
Well, I don't want it to be the end........ but this new board is a pain in the butt. I'm drafting a letter to them right now and including the fact that some of their posters (you for example) are not even able to access the boards. Maybe they'll fix things. We'll see...........

Well, I did buy ONE album from them, not to mention the fact that I direct visitors to my web site to their message boards, but DIRECTLY to their Tempts' albums available online. I wanted to mention "I'll take my business elsewhere," but I know how ineffective that is when one of my customers says that to me so I left it out.

((((((((((IVORY)))))))))))))))MUCH BETTER!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I can't sleep. It is 3 a.m. Santa Fe time.

I stand in the kitchen, grinding up my coffee in the middle of the night, so that I can get a heads-up on my work for today (since I have been laying in bed for 45-minutes anyway.) I bring up the Tempts board to complain to everyone about my horrible night and UGH!!! Maybe this is why I couldn't sleep? LOL (That's a little extreme huh?) Actually, my bad sleep has nothing to do with this...but MAN!!!! That new look is UGLY! Scary like FLYNN!!!

What makes them think we need little animated icons to make everything so slow? Colored fonts? HUA!!! Little postcards to send the page to someone? I don't even know what else there is, I don't care.

I was hoping I would wake up to a little apology from iMusic for screwing up so bad LOL

You know, I think I am going to cruise to some other iMusic boards and see if people are complaining. I think that Ivory Fair should get together one huge petition and we can pass it around iMusic and tell them how horrible their techy idea was?

OK. I have to go work.

Ok, how come this board already knows my name and I've never posted here before? Strange... Anyway. I DO NOT like the iMusic board the way it is. I can't figure out how to do anything there. Can't they just leave it alone? First they get this ugly vomit bright green color and put that everywhere, and THEN they go and do this! And I didn't know that you could get CD's from them or anything.... But I have gotton so many! ;-)
Ivory Fair  84

Actually they have a pretty decent CD service. When the Lost and Found CD came out, remember how CDNow screwed everyone over? Well, I ordered mine through Artist Direct and got it like BAM! really fast.

The new message board isn't all bad, it's got some good features, the board is more customizable. To post a new message, you click on the "new thread" button at the top of the screen, of if you want to post a new message within a thread there's a reply button within that view that you click on. But it is still too slow and I can do without those smiles and other icons.

Hi Temptations Crew! I just came over to give everybody a Shout Out. I sure miss the old board. I actually dread going over to that new board, because it's not like where you can just go over and read like the old one. You have to click here and click there. Hey Temptations Crew! ((((((Ivory))))), it does feel as though we've been evicted. BOO HOOO!!!! I didn't realize how much the board meant to me until it was all changed. As one of the poster said it seem so impersonal now. The old board we able to really interact with each other. You knew right away what was being said. (((((LuvNRuffin))))), I understand what you mean about losing an old friend. I know if it wasn't for the board, I wouldn't have gotten a change to meet Dennis or the Tempts, and I believe because of how the board use to be, I would have been able to meet David, Eddie, Paul, and Melvin if they were alive. There was such a connection between all of us there. Well, I think I'm going to try and tackle the new board today. I wish everybody who posted on the old board would come over here. I know I'm being a big baby, but it makes me cry. I Love all you Guys!!!! Have a Stressfree week everybody! TTYAL!

Speaking of Leon on BET...u know what I thought was funny as hell was number one the fact that they didn't extend the mike for him and he was bending down really awkard looking AND THEN it sounded as if he was going to make a miniture speech to Mr. Johnson to me and apparently to the audience too because there was a pause and as if we were waiting for him to say more AND he realized and and started clapping really fast and loud talking bout let's give it up for Mr. Johnson...if it weren't for you. My mother and I turned around and looked at one another and burst our into a fit of laughter it was so comical. Plus whoever was up there with him mentioned something about him being the bad guy in all the his recent movies including Five Heartbeats, THE TEMPTATIONS and something else and suggested that he go back to being nice like he was in the Madonna video. Now that was funny...sorry Ruffin...but reaaaal funny cause like um he was silent in the video, HAHAHAHA it was almost insulting.

It's called "Resurection Boulvard" and it's going to be on Showtime on June 26th (next Tuesday). MOST astounding to me was that Leon DOES have a last name...they called him "Leon ROBINSON"! Imagine! MG2, exactly, to me the movie showed David as a man more blessed with talent than self-control. And I also feel the movie portrayed all of the other Tempts, including Otis, with varying strengths and weaknesses. But I also know it was just a movie.

I've been wondering that myself. Both here and at iMusic. Do you think there is less posting there, or is it just my imagination? I know I feel inclined to say less because I don't want to make people click to read my post if it's just "fluff."

Sure feels like its been dead there...it really isn't so bad once you get the feel for it. It sure isn't as easy as HERE, though :) . Problem with "here" is that you can't get "here" unless you know exactly where "here" is, so the possibilities of new and interesting members is slim. Just my opinion, but I like "meeting" new people and reading their ideas and such.
Ivory Fair  131
06-27-2001 09:56 PM central
Well, those of us who have web sites could put links to "here" and I thought about doing that but the most of the conversation has been so inside-stuff ish that's why I didn't.

IVORY, I think a reason posting has died down over there is now you really only have the name of the thread to give you a clue about what is being said. For myself, if the thread title doesn't sound interesting or something I want to know, I don't even bother with it. Before at least everything was just there on the page and you scan for what interested you all at once...K2, maybe this site can be registered with search engines.

Anyway, I inserted links to this board at my site so we can get some new people in here and Kalisa will have more buddies to play with (ha, ha.)

qbunny, can you register the site with search enginces manually? I thought those spiders went around finding them and since this one isn't linked to another page it would just sort of be hidden, you know?
kalisa2  134

(((Ivory))) No to the first question...because I seldom come here unless I have something to say. I have it set up to e-mail me all the notes so I don't come here to look at what's happening. IF/when we get busier here, I'll probably drop that option, since it tends to fill the mailbox rather quickly :) . Note: I also have Imusic set up to e-mail me when there are replies to threads I've participated it, but so far that hasn't worked for me.
Melody  135
06-30-2001 08:19 AM central
Hi Temptations Crew! ((((((Ivory))))), I think there is less posting at the new imusic board. At the old board you knew right away who was there. It was easier to talk up a storm at the old board. The one thing I wish they would add is changing the color of the letter for threads that I've already read, because I find myself reading the same thread. As far as what would be interesting to read, you cannot really tell from the first thread, because someone may ask or bring up another topic in the thread, so I read them all, because I don't want to miss anything. Those pictures sound nice. TTYAL!
Ivory Fair  136
06-30-2001 09:13 AM central
Yeah, iMusic hasn't emailed me to say someone has replied to my post yet, I guess that's another bug they need to work out. That's fine if they want to add all of these features, but they should have made sure they worked first, I feel like we're all a bunch of beta testers.

You can also post on this board if you reply to the message you get via email, that's how I'm posting now. The only thing about it is you would want to create a profile in your email that matches your user name here or else the name that goes out with your email would be displayed here.
Ivory Fair  137
06-30-2001 09:17 AM central
Melody, I don't know if you've noticed it, but when there are new replies to an existing thread, there is a little character that looks to me like a little heart (but I think it's supposed to be an arrow) that is displayed next to the thread name. But I agree, changing the color of the thread of something would make it much easier. They've taken what should be a simple-to-navigate threaded message board and made it WAY too difficult. Right now my biggest pet peeve is how after you post, you are taken back to your post. I would prefer to be taken back to the main board.
kalisa2  138
06-30-2001 09:58 AM central
I didn't know I could use e-mail to reply...thanks (((Ivory)))!! Its pretty easy to use the link to get here though, to post a reply (easier than setting up a new e-mail account LOL...Techie I'm not). Imusic changes its mind on a daily/hourly basis whether I can post or not (if you go to the bottom of the main page on each board, there is a list of things you May or May Not do...and logging out and back in doesn't change it or fix it when it says "MAY NOT" to me :( ).

Yes, it feels like we're beta testers over there. I went to one board, I forget where, and the e-mail thing was working there. That may have been one of those hourly quirks, though...subject to change without notice.
Ivory Fair  139
06-30-2001 10:19 AM central
One other bad thing about posting here from your email is that you couldn't edit it. I could delete it for you and you could re post, but you couldn't edit or delete anything you post from your email.

About iMusic, do you have your browser set to accept cookies? (I forget if I've asked you that before or not.) The new system seems to be pretty cookie reliant and if you aren't accepting them it could cause problems.
Speaking of cookies, I think I'll go have one myself. :-)
kalisa2  140
06-30-2001 10:34 AM central
Yes, I accept cookies...preferably chocolate chip WITHOUT nuts...they keep sending me coconut macaroons WITH some peanut(gallery) mixed in.

I'm sure it is something that they will have fixed sometime this millenium. They also don't seem able to keep my preference settings intact from one board to the next (I have it set for "one day", every time I switch boards it goes back to "30 days".)
Ivory Fair  141
06-30-2001 10:39 AM central
Yeah, I don't like nuts either. :-)

That's weird, it's always set to one day on every board I visit. That's kind of a pain because on some boards I would like to have it set to different settings on different boards depending on how active they are. Some board I only look at once a week.

........ they can get to fixing it ANY time now (tapping my foot)!

IVORY, there are several places where you can go to register site with search engines. Can't think of the names right off hand though. Ya'll knock ya'll selves out with the new board. Hi Tempts Crew! ((((Ivory)))), I noticed the green hearts at the beginning of the threads. I'm thinking that it's just there for that day, and if you miss a day, you won't see the green hearts, because I've missed a day and gone there and read threads where I hadn't read all the messages. Now if I go to a board on the same day, I can see when there's a new reply. I don't mind reading my post after I post it. Hello everybody! Just dropping in to say hello! I know we have talked about this before but for about two weeks I have been listening to Lost and Found. I really don't know which song on that cd would have been a hit but to me it really captures the the essence of the Temptations. I listened to the cd everyday on the way to work and the whole thing is outstanding. I was walking one day and thought to myself how that listnening is just like eating and Oreo Cookie. You can just eat the whole thing or eat the midle first and then the outsides. With the Temps, you can listen to the whoever is leading or you can focus on the background. Or you can focus one singer in the background and follow him and see if you can hear exactly what he is doing in the background. Man it's so much fun.
Melody  151
07-08-2001 10:16 AM central
Hi Temptations Crew! (((((Wesley)))))), You can also scrap the creamy part of the cookies and just eat the cookies. :OD Brilliant huh? LOL!!! I hear you about the "Lost And Found" cd. I have sometimes listened to just the lead or background in a song. I find that the more I listen over time I'll hear something new in the lead, background vocals, or the instruments. There will never be a group like the Temptations with all their wonderful songs. Listening to the Grammy Award Winning "Ear" cd, you can also hear the continuing of the Great leads, background vocals, and music that the Tempts are known for. (((((Ivory))))), LOL@hope it's the last. I've noticed that now the thread that you've already read does change colors, and today I was able to click on the green heart and go right to the reply. I guess imusic is reading our posts or are getting suggestions by e-mail on how to make the board run more smoothly. I still want the old board back. Have a Delightful week everybody! TTYAL!
Ivory Fair  152
07-08-2001 02:12 PM central
Well, if you want to get technical, NONE of the songs on Lost and Found would have been a hit because they apparently didn't have what Motown thought it had to make it. But then that brings on the question of what makes a hit, the fans or the industry? But I know what you mean. I rate a song by whether or not I end up singing it in my head after having listened to it, using "My Pillow," "Happy Landing," "Tear Stained Letter," "Last One Out is Broken Hearted," "That'll Be the Day," "Forever In My Heart," and "Camouflage," (the Cha Cha version) are all "hits" as far as I am concerned.
twesleyp  153
07-08-2001 08:35 PM central
(((Ivory))) As you said. I don't look for the opinions of others to make a song a hit for me. If I like it, then it is a hit. Case And point. "Do The Temptions" Was a great album put I don't think it went over big with everybody. Lost & Found is one of the best compilations that is out today. It is full of great performances. Everybody sounds great on these songs and the harmony is magnificent. From the very beginning every song seems to get better and better. I feel Like going to listen right now. Nobody can compare to the classic five.
Ivory Fair  154
07-08-2001 08:53 PM central
Do you like "Mannequin"? That is one song off of the album that I absolutely HATE!!!!!
twesleyp  155
07-09-2001 02:18 PM central
I don't hate it but it's not my favorite either. I like in catorgories. What I mean is, DINAH GIRL is the song that mostly captures their sound for me. It's performance is deep. Ask THE LONELY, or whatever the name of that is sounds like the Temps with a whole lot O soul. The background seems to be pleading the case just as much as David. "HAVE A HAPPY LANDING" has that youthful angelic voice of Eddie and a nice upbeat approach to that song. Everything that Paul does on the CD hits me right in the heart. I don't now if you are in to background like me but on this CD Otis is carrying that second tenor like he invented it. Many things that they do does not seem possible without O.
Qbunny  156
07-09-2001 02:28 PM central
IVORY, I don't like "Mannequin" or "Camoflauge." Now are you saying none of the songs would have been a hit because Motown didn't release them? I don't think BG was the end all and be all of hits, so I think a few of the songs on L&F could have been hits...TWES, you are so right about listening to the background and lead vocals. When i really do take time to listen, I always hear something I missed before.
Ivory Fair  157
07-09-2001 04:31 PM central
Twes, you mean there is something to listen to BESIDES the background?????? (smile)

Qbunny, I’m confused. How could a song become a hit if it was never released?
Qbunny  158
07-09-2001 11:16 PM central
IVORY, what I'm trying to ask is whether you were saying that Motown definitely knew what would or wouldn't be a hit. You said none of L&F would have been a hit because Motown didn't think they had what it takes.
Ivory Fair  159
07-10-2001 08:28 PM central
Ok now I see what you are saying.

Yes and no. Obviously the public might have really liked some of the songs that Motown didn't release, but by that time, the public had lost the ability to decide what would or would not be a hit; record executives decided that. So essentially, Motown had the ability to decide if something would be a hit or not. Am I making any sense?

Ivory-How did the public loose the ability to decide what would be a hit. I alway thought that public response to what was released dictated what was going to be a hit. BG was hoping that "Get Ready" would be a really big hit but It was not what he thought it would be. I don't think we know if anything from L & F would have been a hit. I know that right now the CD is a hit with Me.

Hi Temptations Crew! I haven't been over here in a while. ((((Wesley))))), I agree. Everything that Paul sang on the L&F touches my heart. (((((Ivory)))), I like Mannequin. I love all the songs on the L&F cd. While it's the record company that decides what it wants to release, I think it's the fans that decide if a record is going to be a hit. If the fans go out and buy a record in large numbers, it's a hit. It was fans going out to buy the "PR" cd that made it go Double Platnium. TTYAL!

TWes, during the 1950's, disc jokeys could play whatever songs they wanted, often based on what their listeners called in and requested. Record companies would pay disc jokeys based on how often their songs were played, but this all came to an end with the "Payolla" scandal of the late 50's and early 60's. After that, disc jokeys lost the ability to freely select what they played and playlists became pre-determined; ever since then the audience has had little to no input.

Ok folks, iMusic can go ahead and get itself fixed any moment now, I'm TIRED OF WAITING!!!!

Did anyone catch the message from Optimistic Destiny that was on the board the other day? I only saw it once and didn't get a chance to get her email. If anyone has it and could send it to me I'd appreciate it. ivory@temptsinfo.ourfamily.com

THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, Yeah right, this must be a scam, but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands). No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured: what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right? Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!... within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works... Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something so easy! Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (print it out or download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money come in! It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage).

IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it is not illegal; and it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!! If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends.

PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its success by carefully adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it's a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list.

HERE ARE THE 4 EASY STEPS TO SUCCESS:

STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper: PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST (with your name and address). Now get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses:

#1) Julie King 567 Main Road Glendale NSW 2285 Australia

#2) K Roethe P.O. Box 1019 9260 TROMSOE NORWAY

#3) Angel Perez 36 E. Walnut St. Lancaster, PA 17602 U.S.A.

#4) Allison Saiki 725 Cholla Rd. Chula Vista, CA 91910 USA

#5) Brandon M. 617 Spanish Oak Dr. Acworth GA, 30102

#6) M. Thomas 400 Spinnaker #408F Lockhart, TX 78644 U.S.A.

STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc...) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list.

STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery laws. Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again.

PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this way. If you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way.

NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service. (Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.)

So, as each post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed, six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above) Send it now, add your own name to the list and you're in business!

--- DIRECTIONS --- FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS ---

Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer's memory.

Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list.

Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you'll always have this file to go back to.

Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions). (Just as an example... Lets say you log onto any search engine like yahoo.com, google.com, altavista.com, or excite.com, then you search with this subject ?millionaire message board? or ?money making message board? or ?employment message board? or ?money making discussions? or ?money making forum? or ?business message board? etc. You will find thousands & thousands of message boards.)

Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You're done with your first one! Congratulations...THAT'S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.**

Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make the 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $625.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at #6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so... People have said, "Eh, what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual internet. Remember: play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work!!
