High school is a waste; go to college early. Don't worry about enjoying the Kinky Life. Come Out and let the queer
man of your dreams tie you up.

What about a message in the reverse direction?

When I was in grade school I wrote myself a couple of letters predicting my own future, to be opened when I reached the advanced age of 30. They are still unopened, although 30 has come and gone.

My Message:
High school equals trivial.
Don't waste that year as a journalism major.
Take more art classes.
Create AOL bot.

I could have used this advice seven years ago when I was freaking out about stupid high school crap.

My message: "Don't worry. It gets better."
Why? Because there were times I thought it wouldn't. I was 16 only 5 years ago, but measured personally rather than chronologically, it's been a very long time. I was a very miserable kid.

And maybe: "You're the only one who really knows what's best for you."

20 words? Yeow. Pity I'm always verbose. Ok, I'll try.

To myself, nearly 5 years ago:

"Stop starving yourself.
Perfect grades nice -- enjoying life nicer.
At Christmas, tell Grannie you love her. It's your last chance."

That which does not kill you really pisses you off.

"Invest in Yahoo!?" you guys have seen "Frequency" too many times.

I was 16 back in 1983, and it's been a long and twisty road to where I am now. My message:

"You WILL make mistakes, get hurt. That's okay. Nothing is wasted. Don't expect all the answers when you grow up."

Once you move to California, stay there till you finish college! You can never go back, so go forward!

[I did fine in high school, it was college that I screwed up.]

Just get the damn drivers license, it doesn't mean you have to drive. Transfer to public school and make some friends.

[I'm 35 now. Got my drivers license finally at 33 and my insurance rates were horrific. Only spent one year in public school because I was afraid of it; in retrospect, it would have been very good for me to loosen up, make new friends and get out of the tiny private school where I was able to finagle special treatment].

Don't worry. Your face will grow into your ears and yes, you'll eventually grow breasts.
I was 16 ten whole fricking years ago.
