Personally, I see TeleBears as a cry for help. I think this would be a worthwhile subject, especially if the revisions were actually implemented.

A suggestion from our Dean is to look at course web
pages that were developed as part of the SIMS course
web design project (led by Sally Thomas). Of special
interest are the very large courses, especially
Chem 1A.

There is an initiative on campus called e-berkeley
which is building a portal for commercial activities
related to UC Berkeley. We are in the process of talking
to people there to see if there might be interest in a
class project relating to this. See

Hi all

I plan to work at this class part of my final project frontend (Jason is doing the backend part outside 213 course), which is a kind of a 'portal' web site focused on nightlife information about SF. This site has two audiences: the consumers and the nightlife players (bar owners, djs, promoters). We have already some studies and a basic user interface (consumer), but we will be redesigning the site, doing more needs assessment, and usability test. We can pick for this project a piece of the site/funtionalities. If you are interested, please contact me directly (monicamf@sims). We need two people in our team, someone who would like to work in an experimental and fun environment. Next week I would like to present the site for those interested. Please send your time availability. Thank you.

I have a project suggestion from someone named Joe Chin
of Decidia systems who called me asking for UI design help
for a provider of internet-based decision system.
Call him if you are interested. More information at

Hi folks:
I would like to work on a project that is not an e-commerce web site. One idea I have is to re-work the UCB library web page although I am really not wedded to any particular idea at this point. Please let me know if you have similar interests.
Thanks!
Linda

Hello everyone--
I'd like to work on designing or redesigning a moderated links-and-discussion site (like http://www.slashdot.org or http://www.plastic.com). Anyone else interested in something similar?

I'm on the board of a gaming company in Dallas that just put up the first version of their main website. It is meant to be a fully customizable portal site focusing on computer games.

They are currently reviewing their initial design and are very open to ideas and criticism. It is very possible for you to have direct impact on the design of the next release.

There is a large established user base and you should have the opportunity to interact with them.

On the technology level, they are using Broadvision (similar to Blue Martini).

The site can be accessed at http://www.playnet.com/

Please let me know if you're interested.

Hi guys here is one idea from my friend Cai Hong. He said he would like to do a site for home improvement stuff. Right now we have two people, me and Hong. Anyone interested can send email to johnyiu@sims.

I don't remember who suggested it, but I really like the idea of setting up a textbook exchange system for Simians or all Berkeley students. Any group has decided to take the idea?

If no group is doing it, I'd like to meet anyone who are interested and form a group.
