Does anyone up here have WATER delivered by the truckload? Our well has runneth dry, or something like that, and we NEED a water delivery of about 400 gallons THIS WEEK for a 500-gallon tank. My understanding is that we will have to pay for a whole truckload (of 1000 or 1200 gallons) whether it fits in our tank or not, so I'm hoping to split a load with someone. I'll follow up tomorrow with costs, but I just wondered if anyone uses this type of service. Thoughts? Recommendations? Thanks!

Hi!I am looking for a quiet home (rental) for myself and one very sweet cat. A cottage, in-law or guest house in a natural setting would be ideal. Long-term house-sit (at least 8 months) could also work out. I am accustomed to and love mountain living. Excellent References. If you know of anything, please contact Amy at 303-443-3521 or aajgup18@yahoo.com Thanks!

MUSIC ON THE MOUNTAIN IS BACK FOR OUR SECOND YEAR!!This Sunday, May 26 from 12:00 - 4:00 on our outdoor stage - The SoulaBillySwampBoogieBand! Outstanding in their field and now they'll be standing in ours! Check out the video. Seriously folks, you DON'T want to miss these guys. Extreme energy! Jump in your car and help us kick off a beautiful mountain jam all summer long. We've got some great bands lined up every Saturday and Sunday from noon - 4:00. Then our open bluegrass pick every Saturday night starting at 8:00 hosted by Kane Hollins. And we've decided we want to keep the music going all Saturday with bands from 5:00 - 8:00. Know anyone who wants to get up there during that time? Have them give us a call! Oh yeah, and we have our horseshoe pit up and running. And you can bring your beers outside!

If interested, stop by and see Scott in the evenings after 5:30, Friday through Tuesday. Bring a resume if you have one. Experience not necessary. Must commit through the summer, be a hard worker, and willing to learn a restaurant POS system. Fun place to work! We have an outdoor stage with live music on the weekends. I am looking for a large 2-bedroom or a 3-bedroom home for my son and I to rent near Jamestown. I'm a colorado native, grew up with friends in Jamestown, and have always loved it here. I need at least two bedrooms and a space (with decent internet) for my home office. We don't smoke, drink, or have pets, I can provide references (from Jamestown), and am extremely reliable. I've got a steady long-term income and would prefer a year lease under $1,200/month. Please feel free to contact me either via email (kirainco2011 at gmail dot com) or by phone at 720-442-1818

Hello Peak to Peak Mountain Transit Project Supporters,

Thank you all for your support. I wanted to give you an update on where we are with our mountain transit proposal, that is, a public transportation option from Allenspark to Black Hawk via the Peak to Peak Hwy.
Collaboration and support is imperative for the success of this public transit route along the Peak to Peak Hwy. We are currently working very closely with Via and both the Gilpin and Boulder County Commissioners to submit a Colorado Dept. of Transportation rural transit grant. The good news is this grant deadline has been pushed to mid-July which will give us a chance to write an accurate proposal for the most used (and likely funded) route.
How you can HELP: Once we have the grant application in our hands, we will ask you (individuals) and local organizations/business for a letter of support to CDOT. A similar letter to the Boulder County Commissioners will also be very helpful as we would like to approach them for funding. Please start to think about these questions for your letters of support.
1.) Describe your organization/and location on the Peak to Peak.
2.) What is your relationship to Via Mobility Services (used to be Special Transit)? Who do you think this route will serve? (Remember to identify user groups such as older adults, people with disabilities, students-before and after school enrichment, recreation, health services etc.) Describe specific routes/locations the route would be used for (ex. Mountain family health, connect to Ned RTD etc).
3.) How will you as an individual/organization support Via in the Peak to Peak Transit Project? This may be in promotion and ridership referrals. Please stress the number of riders the organization anticipates as ridership, time of day, and days of the week needed. What fare do you feel is reasonable?
The letters to the Boulder County Commissioners can be written as soon as possible and sent to commissioners@bouldercounty.org.

Thank you for your support and we will let you know how our progress goes…

Email Amy at ahardy@unitedwayfoothills.org for more information.

*Save the Date: Free Firewise Landscaping Forestry Workshop – May 11

*Forestry Tip of the Day: May 4 is Wildfire Preparedness Day of Service Day
Forestry Tip of the Day: Governor Hickenlooper has proclaimed this Saturday, May 4th as “Wildfire Preparedness Day of Service.” Commit a couple of hours, or the entire day, and watch as your actions positively contribute to reducing your community’s wildfire risk. Grab a friend, your family, or a group of neighbors and join Coloradans throughout the state in making big changes. Do something GREAT – be a local champion!
• To learn more visit: http://www.firewise.org/information/who-is...day-of-service.aspx
• For project ideas that can be done around your home and across your neighborhood visit: http://www.firewise.org/~/media/firewise/f...rojectideaslist.pdf
Conveniently, the Nederland Sort Yard Site opens on Friday May 3, so make sure to utilize this free of charge site to dispose of cut logs and slash.

Why is this important? Join fellow Coloradoans and take action to better prepare your home and family for future wildfires. It is your personal responsibility to protect your life, family, property and home from wildfires.

*Nederland Sort Yard Opening Delayed until Friday due to late Winter Storm
Welcome to spring time in Colorado! Yet another spring snow storm is on its way! Due to the forecasted heavy snow for the mountains/foothills, the Nederland sort yard will not open as scheduled tomorrow. Instead we are now aiming to open the Nederland sort yard on Friday, May 3. Bring us your slash and logs!!! The cutting season is here!

The best way to stay informed about weather related closures is to call 303-678-6368. We will update the outgoing message as soon as a temporary closure of the site is confirmed. For further info about our sort yard program please visit: http://www.bouldercounty.org/property/fore...es/fhsortyards.aspx Enjoy the snow!

*Save the Date: Free Firewise Landscaping Forestry Workshop – May 11
Don’t forget about our upcoming Firewise Landscaping workshop scheduled for Saturday May 11, in Nederland. Defensible space does not mean moonscape: Learn how to transform your home’s perimeter into an area that you can not only use, but looks good and helps protect your home from wildfires. We hope you can join us!

When: Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Where: Nederland Community Center, 750 Highway 72 North
What: Half-day workshop focused on “Firewise Landscaping”
Event Flyer: Firewise Landscaping Forestry Workshop Flyer (912 KB)

Workshop Highlights:
•Lessons learned from High Park and Waldo Canyon fires. Our understanding of how homes are lost in wildfires is changing. Learn the newest science available.
•Learn about simple spring maintenance tips to better prepare your home for wildfires.
•See fun and attractive examples of d-space incorporating patio design and pathways.
•Hear from a local resident about her experiences rebuilding after the Fourmile Canyon Fire.
•Learn how to use fire-resistant native and adapted plants to add color and beauty and to attract birds to your land.
•Hear from the US Forest Service about planned projects near Nederland and surrounding areas.

There is no charge for this training, and no RSVP is required. Light snacks and coffee will be provided. Sponsored by Boulder County, Colorado State Forest Service, Colorado State University Extensions, U.S. Forest Service, Town of Nederland, and Nederland Fire Protection District.

*Mountain Living Tip: The bears are out of hibernation! Be Bear Aware!
Our local bears are awake and actively looking for food. I have heard reports that bears and bear cubs are on decks and rummaging around homes in the following areas of the county: Gold Hill, Sugarloaf Rd, Lower Lefthand Canyon, Pine Brook Hills and on Magnolia Rd.

Here is a link to the Colorado Department of Wildlife’s webpage with great online resources on how to do your part to keep bears wild. http://wildlife.state.co.us/WildlifeSpecie...ingWithBearsL1.aspx

Cheers,
Ryan

It's May Day, International Day of the Worker.

I'm celebrating by joining the MAY DAY MARCH for MULTI-PARTY POLITICS.

The march is from the SE corner of Walnut and 30th, Boulder, (meet at noon) to the County Clerk's office to register with a MINORITY party. I will change my registration to the Green Party. -Harry Hempy

________________________

Here is why I'm doing this:

How's the two-party system working out for you?

Are you well-represented in Congress? How can Congress not strengthen background checks on all gun sales, when 90% of the country wants them?

Are you surprised that no one in Colorado's US Congressional delegation has proposed a constitutional amendment to allow the US government and state government to limit campaign spending, in spite of such direction from Colorado voters who passed CO Amendment 65 by a 3-to-1 margin last November? Don't hold your breath!

Do you identify (affiliate) with either the Democratic Party or Republican Party? One-third of Colorado voters don't. They are called independent voters. Independent voters act as if voting for the better of the R or D candidate is going to produce good government. Its not working. Voters need other choices. As long as D's or R's, with campaigns funded by essentially the same fantastically rich individuals and transnational corporations, have no effective electoral competition, they will dictate the discussion and representation of The People's interest will not improve.

I implore you, independent voter, get off the fence and register for the MINORITY party that best fits your political viewpoint. We need more than a D and an R on the ballot.

Meet me at 12:00 noon May 1, on the SE corner of Walnut and 30th St. in Boulder. We will march to the County Clerk's office and register with a minority political party. Registering as a member of a minority party is an affirmative action toward creation of a political system in U.S. politics in which the Democratic and Republican Parties, and the money which backs them, cannot dictate the boundaries of political debate.
