Hey just a reminder: If you are going to Oxford this weekend. Please register in advance. Word has it they are having someone there with chicken plates for a fundraiser for the club. They need a head count to plan for shoot. Thanks and hope to see everyone there. I sure do miss everyone and I'm ready to go have some fun.

If you are going to the shoot Apr 28-29 and are planning on staying at the Days Inn, you MUST CALL AND RESERVE YOUR ROOM ASAP!! They are filling up fast due to another event in the area and are removing those rooms from hold tomorrow, Friday, Apr 20th. When you call, ask for one of the rooms held by "Shawn Yospin" to be transfered to your name. You will need to guarantee the room with a credit card to reserve it. The Days Inn has a new owner and they are not as flexible as the previous owner.

CMSA just released the following regarding their stance on illegal modifications to revolvers and rifles. 1st Virginia CMSA takes safety very seriously and will not tolerate any violations of these rules.
Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association March 29, 2012 Illegal Firearm Modifications
The CMSA has been made aware that some members are modifying their revolvers used for mounted shooting by removing the barrel, drilling out the rifling adding a choke and replacing the barrel. This action (or any other illegal modification) constitutes an illegal modification as well as serious breach of safety and w...ill result in DISQUALIFICATION from any CMSA match the contestant is found to have used these illegal firearms for the first offense. If a member is found to have done this a second time they will receive a LIFETIME BAN from the CMSA. Not only is this illegal modification breaking rule 9.C by making modifications that are in excess of the listed allowed modifications it creates a potential safety issue due to the extended range of these illegally modified revolvers.
Furthermore, CMSA will encourage all Match Directors at the local level to begin inspecting contestant's revolvers and rifles for this and any other illegal modification. In addition, the CMSA will institute a policy to inspect contestant's firearms in the out gate of all CMSA Championship Series Events, beginning with the Jeffers National Championship.
17.A.17(a) d - d) Match officials have the right to inspect any and all firearms before or following a competitors run.
9. Firearms C. All firearms shall be maintained in the same external condition as originally manufactured from the factory. Allowed modifications shall be limited to engraving, hammer knurling or turned down hammers as long as there is no lateral movement or welded add-ons. Custom grips are allowed including Birds head grips (like the Cimarron Thunderer). No rubber grips allowed. The original external profile shall be maintained. All external parts shall be of the type manufactured for that particular model of firearm. Stock parts may be swapped from gun to gun. Ejector rods shall be maintained. Sight modifications on revolvers shall be limited to the filing of the front sight. Front and rear rifle sights may be removed. Triggers shall be operational; slip hammer revolvers are unsafe
