I love this guy and had to have him because my youngest daughter bought herself an old English bulldog when she got her master's degree in physical therapy. He was such a cute puppy. Now he is older and he absolutely loves their outdoor inground pool. He is in it all the time. He is a strange sight with his huge big yellow life jacket on. His name is Ezekial Adonis (yes, right)Jzyk. Beth named him with those initials because those are hers. And yes, she is a bit kooky.

Debi -

When I bought my lovely bulldog salt at my first (only) convention I didn't know of your "blue" attraction :) - I think I was lucky to spy him first!!

Sandy -

I totally understand; I've done the same myself :) - but he likes all his dog friends here too :)

Sandy: Well, I'M SORRY you sold it to Susie. I love that cobalt one! Just kidding but I wouldn't mind finding another for me.

I think I fixed the image problem for now so if there's any dog salts to add, please feel free.

I can't believe that I forgot all about the dog site. It was fun to see them all. I have a German Pink Pig one with a bulldog on it. It may be a little bit bigger than some, but we have a granddog English bulldog so I had to have it. I won't post it as I understand that you are out of room. Susie P. I have to admit that I am sorry that I sold that bulldog salt to you LOL. It had the green stones in its collar and eyes. Oh well.

Debi,
Colby is hanging in there...poor little guy. I think he is doing better than I am. I have to keep waking him up every three hours to give him more meds.

P.J.,
Love your Collie in the jeweled holder. I'll save you the trouble of looking back for the brass cleaner...it's "Wright's Brass Cleaner" and you can usually find it in any supermarket. Let me know if you want me to pick up a bottle and send it to you. It works magic on brass and it's safe for all your stones, even pearls!

Sorry, I guess we can't do that. We have reached our picture space limit per topic. That's why it's rather important to crop and make them a smaller size...so we have space for more pictures. I guess we'll just have to change topics tomorrow. Let's do cats and if anyone cannot crop or resize their pictures, email them to me and I'll send them back so you can still post them yourself.

Dogs on salts is really slowing down here...Maybe we should show pics of our real life pups now, including the Rainbow Bridge pups.

Hi All,

I'm a little late on posting and have tons of dog intaglios, but I believe most have already been posted so I will only post a picture of one in a jeweled holder. Also, will post a couple of Noritake pieces that are in fact "pin dishes", but fit in nicely with a salt collection. And last but not least I just have to post a Delft toothpick holder (Sorry Debi, but at least it's blue) because the puppy is just sooooooooo darn cute!!

Hi All...
Well... I just have to add one more dog salt...
The Stones around him are "semi-precious"... Jade, Coral, Lapis, Malichite - I know I'm a terrible speller... anyway... there are 4 large stones and 4 small stones around the base - then one on the top of each "hold down" clamp...

I have to try and polish him up... I'll have to go back in time and find out the best way to do this... I know we've had this discussion on the chat room before... just have to find it...

Later all... "The Salty Nut"... P.J.

Thank you all who have contributed to the identification of the unidentified Pomeranian - Pekinese or Tibetan Spaniel intaglio. I am not very knowledgeble on the species of dogs. We hda mostly hunters. But when we retired in 1984 to go full time RV'ing, Fred said he was "giving away everything that eats". Thankfully, I was exempted from that proculamation!! (Our childern, grandchildern and greatgranson, are OK too.)
Now all we collect is salts, intaglios, and marbles.

Hi All...
Olen & I toured a lot of glass "houses" on our way home from Cherry Hill convention (a million years ago !!!) We got this little puppy at the Boyd foundry... A gentleman who introduced himself as "Mr Boyd" was sitting at a bench painting them at the time... He said the foundry was shut down because of the heat of the summer and he had to be doing something... so, he was filling in and painting...

Heck, I wouldn't know Mr Boyd if I fell over him... so he could have been just humoring us... but, he's my little covered puppy... I had a black cat at the time and thought he would be a good partner...

Later... "The Salty Nut"... P.J.

I am loving this topic! What fun to see all the pups. Lorraine... the handsome boy in your second photo is OBVIOUSLY unhappy with the silly collar his owners have tormented him into wearing. But that makes US find him ADORABLE! Love the first two in particular. Jane - what is the size of the salt bowl on your dog made of salt? Can you fit a spoon in that bowl? It looks tiny.

Hi: I have a lot of dog salts, especially intaglios, but these were two pictures I could find easily.

The first is a bronze German shepherd sitting beside a bronze dogwood blossom, both with a green finish. The blossom is the holder for the plain round emerald green pressed salt. Master size.
The second is one of the most unusual salt glaze dogs I've ever seen.

Oh, Suzie... I love all your Czech pieces with the dogs! (I need to steer clear of them though... like you, I guess, I can't get into collecting ANYTHING else!)

Debi - Love that condiment set! The dog seems to be sitting in there almost like in a dog house. how cool! I bet the maker is related somehow to the maker of mine. Don't you think? Those heads are so similar.

I was going to post an intaglio holder VERY similar to yours, Suzie, but in not so hot condition. I can't bear to part with it though because the little dog looks like a beagle to me. I love mine, too. It looks like the little boy is getting ready to toss that stick. Doesn't it? I need to find some jewels - and maybe give mine a coat of gold leaf... It's in rather horrendous condition!

Susie: Really neat dogs on perfumes too! I wouldn't mind owning those but something tells me they aren't cheap. Crossover collectibles are always more in demand because different groups want them. Dogs on anything will probably get more attention than a plain version of the same object.

You would do well to buy some condiment sets now. I think the market is soft on them and you can pick them up rather inexpensively. Just always make sure you have the mustard insert and not just the cover because some were designed that way. The white and gold set is five separate china pieces including a spoon.

Nina,

I had to have the little czech bull dog on the blue salt; most of you know I also collect czech perfumes; and many of the dangle bottles have them and I have another more rare; I will include a photo just to show you - just love the dogs :) and no, don't have a favorite breed; but many of the czech dogs are bulldogs; so I have tended that way. I will also show a intaglio with a boy and his dog; just love it! and I am developing a liking for all these condiment sets! Wow! so many different choices - oh no, not another area - Yikes!

I have always wanted one of those little Czech salts with the bulldog, Suzie. That is a sweet one with the metal collar and all. I also love your bull dog! I was trying to post a photo of a double in holder I have that has the same intaglio only in blue without the enameling. I really like your enameled one. I had always described my blue ones as French Bull Dogs. But seeing yours all enameled like that, I think it looks like am Standard Bull Dog. Do any of you dog experts know? Anyway - interesting that both of yours are bulls... Is that a favorite breed for you?

oh, Nina, your double intaglio is AWESOME - what great color, and Debi - love the red with the fantastic holder :) - Here are a couple of my dogs; one with the butterfly mark and one that I believe? I purchased from Sandy at the convnention in Indy?

Nina: Your condiment set reminded me I have a dog head one also, but different. Have to take more pictures tomorrow. There's loads of dogs on intaglios, all different breeds.

Well... Seems like all my other images are too large. Maybe you've seen enough of mine anyway! I have a couple of other neat intaglios in holders. Maybe I'll try to cut down the image size this weekend so I can post them. I love seeing all these dogs!

PJ: I have found that a number of old French doubles were originally painted over the glass. What may look perfectly clear or perfectly white had gold or other colors on them. When most of it had worn off, the rest is attempted to be scrubbed away. But somtimes the colors or gold in the crevices shows up in photos. I'm not saying they were all colored originally, but some were. Others may have just acquired a little grime over the last century or so.

Oh, my... I don't seem to remember what's in my own book. LOL Well, can't retain all that knowledge indefinitely. I just remember many years ago, when eBay first got going, those scotties were frequently listed by Australian sellers. So we sort of assumed there might be a lot of them in Australia. But now that you mention it, I believe they are all signed Czech. Not sure if the one in the book is mine or not.... It certainly could be! Gosh, I expected a lot more dog photos. Maybe I'll get a chance to take some more tomorrow.

I didn't even notice the little indentation in the tail area, Nina! I could see where it would hold a cigarette....though a very short one. The front of the dog is impressed with "Made in Czechoslovakia". I spied the one listed in the OSC. Is that one photographed yours, Nina?

Love your little corn dog, Brenda! Lisa... I think those Scotties may be Australian. I have one, too. I also think they might night owl as ashtrays (note dip near tail), but who cares?

I nabbed this scotty dog salt at convention, and couldn't pass him up! I don't know if he's made of glass, or crystal, but he's heavy, and very detailed. Love him!!!!!!!!
