Hi, my name is Brett Curtis, and I'm new to this board. I've been trying to get people together to discuss a skatepark opening in Littlestown. There are tons of kids in town that like to ride, skate, scooter, etc., and have no place to do it anymore. I know I'm guilty of being on private property, and I admit to it, and have been cited for it as well. Although, it's getting to the point now, that when you ride on a parking lot, or sit with friends anywhere in town, a cop pulls up, and threatens to take our bikes away or cite us. It's absolutely ridiculous now. Kids need a place to go, without having to worry about getting fined. Not everyone is interested in football, baseball, and other school sports. BMX and skating is just as much as a sport as anything else offered in school, and people don't realize it is. Everyone assumes we are out to destroy property, and that is not our goal at all. There are plenty of baseball fields and tennis courts in town. Why not replace one of them with a paved area, and set up a park? Insurance can't be that big of a problem if every surrounding town/city has a park. Westminster park has ride at your own risk signs, and they don't even require helmets. I believe the insurance liability is a complete cop out, until someone can prove me otherwise. Basically, in this board, I would like to get people to see our side, and understand why we need a skatepark in Littlestown. Please let me know what you think, and I'll be sure to respond as soon as possible. Thanks for your time.

Brett C - You are right that there is no place to skate, scooter. My only concern would you use the park or still ride on other people property before you get there or still not go there. I'm sure there is a insurance liability. I see your side but it takes a lot of money to do things like that.
