Spent yesterday at Ft. Campbell for Retiree appreciation Days. got our seasonal flu shot, since our doctor was out and the shingles vacine. We we went to lunch, at the 4th Bridgade mess hall, a young man sat next to us with his two extremely well behave little boys, aproz. 3 and 5 yrs. old. They never once interupted him nor acted up once. When i spoke to them, they were very animated, great kids. After we finished, he gave us his card, told us if we ever needed anything, let him know. He had already told us he grew up in CT, we told him we were from LI, originally...he laughed and said every kid born on LI is born with a Lacrosse racket in their hands...gotta admint, every hs has a Lacrosse team. He said anytime they played a LI school, they got their butts kicked. He also told us he went to college in NY...West Point. He mentioned he had a good frined killed, from his Ranger unit, in '07 that was a LIer and a wicked Lacrosse player. This guys name is Col. Sean Jenkins. He said he was teaching his boys that the most noble profession in the world is a fireman. No one else will run into a building to save even a dog or cat, he admires firemen very much. Anyhow, as we were leaving he gave us his card and said if we ever needed anything, to call him, he is the 4th Brigade Commander. What a great guy, we thanked him so much for his service, these guys are really great people, but I have mentioned that numerous times!

i know you said you take a it from the other side which i am not im independent...but jim you banner on healthcare, cant agree,,,im going thru some health things at this time and you know i see the doc once a week,,and do you know what they charge the insurance company,,,,565,,and he is not in the room with me for 10 minutes tops...the nurse comes in first and go thru eveything,,then the doc, but im going thru some high tech things at this moment but some of these prices are outragious,,im very lucky i have insurance that i had when i retired 6 yrs ago,,im paying 240 month for aved. out of my pocket and my bill is running almost 7 grand a month..but beside this the young people now are not getting the health insurance where ever they work unless its govt. no companys are giving the health insurance,,and if they are they are paying out of the ying yang, if you think healthcare is cheap i think you ought to look up some bills people are getting and what the insurance companys are paying..alot of hospitals are eating the bills..from the people that dont have insurance. just wanted to put my 2 cents in,,

Insurance companies rank 37 as far as industry profits, electronics comapanies are #1. The big, horrible profit margine they are making is 2.2%, not a whole hell of a lot. Friviolous lawsuits have driven cost of medicine way over the edge. I worked for a OB/GYN who ended up working as a preison doctor, and even then he was sued every day. The malpractice ins, the cost of staff, machines, and office rent are driving doctor's overheads. That is passed on to the patient. They perform defensive medicine because of lawsuits. I am NOT saying that people should have no recourse to incompetent physicians, I am saying the trial lawyers know a good theing...just watch tv, ever other ad is a trial lawyer's ad. Can you guys imagine how hoigh some people's car insurance would be if you couldn't buy it across state lines, and only had a certain number of policies and companies for you to choose from? Reform is needed, everyone knows that, but I, for one, want the government to stay the hell out of it, unless they pass laws simply reforming the commerce laws and tort reform....there are many things to bring down cost and insure many more people....medicare is bankrupt and so is every other social program run by the government. The national real time debt clock shows we are on the brink...every citizen owes over $300,000 in unfunded and funded American debt...know anyone who can possibly pay that off? When they have enough doctors to take care of millions more people, then maybe they can tell us how it will be possible not to "ration" care....it's an easy formula...supply and demand....same amount of doctors, 47 million more patients....think you wait is long now?????

Norm,
I agree that health insurance needs some big adjustments, Such as Tort reform, across state line buying opportunities, private group pools, Health saving accounts, and so on. My biggest problem with the government running health care is they can't run the post office, amtrack or any thing else. I don't want the government telling what kind of care I need or want.
If we end up with government run health care I hope they include Dentistry in it. I hope you can over come your illness and get healthy again.
