i used to visit my grandfather (Pietro Brinchi) in the 1960's. He lived just outside Manotick on the highway. (Died 1969) and his common law wife Maggie lived with him. We lost track of them. A few years ago when I drove along the highway towards Manotick I saw a small abandoned? house (on the right side) - a grey inusul-brick house - quite small and run down. I think it was his home. would anyone know how I would go about looking into this further. Thank you. Nina Darrell (Toronto). email me at ninafmfdarrell@gmail.com.

Please refer to the information in The Manotick Directory about Long Island Aquatic Club under the Recreation tab at http://www.manotick.net/rec.html. I get emails every year about this club. If you join please encourage them to create a simple webpage and email address to provide customer service. The Manotick Directory has been promoting the area since 1996. Our community directory lists businesses, organizations, clubs, schools, sports, recreation, churches, elected representatives, plus it also has maps, weather, history, tourist information and a list of local events for southern rural Ottawa. The directory is supported by nominal fees for business listings and ads. Support our local businesses! A Manotick chiropractor was ordered to attend a gender sensitivity course and to pay a $5,000 fine in a disciplinary ruling made by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario.
During a disciplinary hearing in May, Dr. Dieter Hardtke faced seven allegations, including professional misconduct, in relation to his treatment of a female patient. Five of the allegations were subsequently withdrawn, but Hardtke admitted to two allegations of professional misconduct as outlined in a subsection of the Health Professionals Procedural Code of the Chiropractic Act.
In an agreed statement of facts, Hardtke treated a female patient, identified only as Ms. T.T.H, in his office in Manotick on April 11, 2007. She had been experiencing migraines as a result of neck pain. Hardtke took X-rays and did a physical examination of the patient.
It is alleged that Hardtke lifted the patient's legs up and out, put his hand down the front of her underwear and pulled up her smock, exposing her breasts and listened to her heart with a stethoscope.
The patient left the doctor's office feeling "upset" and "ashamed," as stated in the agreed statement of facts. She had scheduled a chiropractic treatment for the following day, but did not attend.
Hardtke, who has been a member of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario since 1977, was reinstated on Sept. 6 after complying with the college's ruling, said a spokeswoman for the college.
Valerie Wise, Hardtke's Toronto lawyer, declined to comment on the ruling.
