It was 29 degrees here this morning, according to the suburban West Royerton geo-synchronous-orbiting weather satellite. No rain in the forecast. Appears to be a good leaf-raking day, if I can get the geo-synchronous-orbiting leaf raker started.

A very cool 37 degrees in Wanamaker this A. M. going to a pleasant 57 later today. November 6th. 1) Born in 1854. Composer, known as "The March King", he conducted the U. S. Marine Band, In a submission to a congressional hearing in 1906, he argued that: "These talking machines are going to ruin the artistic development of music in this country. When I was a boy ... in front of every house in the summer evenings, you would find young people together singing the songs of the day or old songs. Today you hear these infernal machines going night and day. We will not have a vocal cord left. The vocal cord will be eliminated by a process of evolution, as was the tail of man when he came from the ape" 2) Born in 1903. Her name was June Marlowe and she played teacher, Miss Crabtree in what series of short films about a group of poor neighborhood children? Either of two names would be correct. 3) Born in 1946. Actress, "Norma Rae, "Places in the Heart" and played Forrest's mother in "Forrest Gump". See her here as teenager "Gidget": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj3CWACel4c 4) Born in 1949. His name is Elwood Edwards and since the invention of the personal computer his voice has been heard by many user's of AOL. What does he say? 5) Born in 1967. Actress. She appeared in the role of Patti Russell on the TV series "My Sister Sam", she was stalked and murdered by an obsessive "fan". Her death prompted California to pass their "anti stalking law". Her murderer was tried by prosecutor Marcia Clark, who later became famous for her role in the O.J. Simpson trial. 6) Died in 1991 at 70. Actress, probably best-remembered for her performance in the title role of "Laura", and she played Ellie May Lester in "Tobacco Road". See her in this 1941 clip from "Tobacco Road": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nzLdzdJ_iM "I won't say ours was a tough school, but we had our own coroner. We used to write essays like 'What I'm Going to be When I Get Out.'" -Sidney Glick- HG

Sherry-- I need you to come down and set all my clocks too. Since I am not allowed to climb, and they are all to high for me to reach, the last time they were set Len, set them. WHEEEEW! The reminders go on and on. I did't know clocks could drive you crazy, but they can, but, I need to count all my blessings and let all the small stuff take care of its self. I'm just glad I'm still here. Love Sharon < replied-to message removed by QT >
