Hello Everybody:
I was sitting here spaced out looking at my computer, and memories from my High School days came to mind.
I had a great English teacher, a Canadian fellow.
I remember him telling us about people's personal vocabulary.
He began by saying was the language with the most ex tense vocabulary with about 500,000 words Followed by Spanish with about 350,000
He went on saying that Shakespeare had about 150,000 words in his personal vocabulary, and Harry Truman about 75,000. He was known for his good vocabulary.
There are 3 vocabularies:
When we READ When we WRITE When we SPEAK
It will be interesting to know how extense is our own personal vocabulary.
Most english language programs consist of about 2,500 words
