Well since some people may be shy I will start a few topics to discuss. Two current focuses for RIC right now are going green and bringing fiber optic to Ravenswood. What are some actions your company has taken towards either one of these two issues?

Switchfast (www.switchfast.com) is partnered with a variety of the largest telecom carriers in the world. I have contacted several of the companies and they have begun the due dilegence portion and feasibility of bringing high bandwidth (20Mbps up to 1000Mbps)services to the corridor. Additionally, several of our partners offer the normal T1 and wireless speeds that are commonplace today.

Please contact me at chosfield@switchfast.com and 773-241-3039.

One way that I encourage our clients to be green is to not throw any retired/broken technology equipment in the dumpster. There are a variety of organizations that will take the equipment and attempt to reuse it. My personal favorite is PCs for Schools (http://www.pcsforschools.org) but here are some for profit entities as well:

We are supporting local businesses....are you? Do you know about all the great restaurants, boutiques, and bars just steps away from your office? Beans and Bagels on Montrose serves Metropolis coffee - which is much better than Intelligensia and cheaper than Starbucks. They have great sandwiches too! Roong Petch on Montrose has a great lunch specials for $5.50. Hazel has great gift ideas. These are just a few of the businesses on Montrose, there are hundreds more. By keeping these businesses going it will encourage other small businesses to move in and bring better talent to your companies.

I am working on a few new and exciting projects these days and one new project is a neighborhood legal graffiti wall. Granted I must get this approved by the powers that be, but anyone that would like to get involved or show support for this project let me know! I am trying to work with Lake View High School and other members of the community to turn a negative into a positive. We also need a wall space that someone would be willing to donate as an art space, this can prove to be lucrative for the owner of the building because you can charge for space on the walls.
