Hi Billy! This is super! I'd like to inaugurate it by asking if anyone wants to go for a ride this Saturday, 1/31? I have 76F rented for most of the day. I'm hoping the other club members will embrace this discussion board, I think it's a positive addition to the website.
Best,
Vince

Hi Vince. I too hope that this will enable guys to get together and enjoy a little more flying. I was also thinking we could set up multiple boards to address our various needs. For example, have additional forums such as "Ask the Instructor", "Misc. Aviation Questions", "Medical Certification Questions", etc. What do you think?

This does look GREAT! I'll email the group and make them aware of it and we'll see what happens. Thanks Vince and Billy.

Very cool. Nice job.
Anyway, I'm flying to San Diego tomorrow in my Cherokee 140 and looking for someone to share the fuel expense.

Hi Billy, adding more boards sounds fine, maybe we can query the group at the next meeting? Meanwhile I'm kinda busy, looks like I'll be flying down to HH to have lunch with Chuck, and then going to San Diego with Seth. I wonder if Seth will buy me dinner?

a group of my friends are hoping to make a trip out west to cali for a visit, is it possible/ reasonable for them to charter a flight as a group at a better rate than they would buying commercial airline tickets individually?

Hi Laura,

It's likely that flying commercial would be the most economical way to go. Assuming that you had a group of 8 going, they'd have to charter a large turboprop or jet which would cost $1500 - $4000 per hour. Figure a minimum of 5+ hours flight time each way and the numbers get pretty big.

Hope school is going well.

Best regards,
Billy

I don't know about everyone else but think it's about time someone posts a new message... 10 days is too long!
Anyone have any thoughts on "Flight 3407"?

Regards,
Randy

Hey folks, anybody interested in going on a flight to Ohio and back this Tuesday, 2/17? Randy, 3407 sounds like it was an icing accident.

Vince... it sure does. I also think there was a chain of events leading up to the crash. And as usual, if any one of the chain links were broken it is unlikely this accident would of occured.

I feel the need to chime in here on a different topic. Randy and I had the Cirrus out for a cruise earlier this week. I must say that's one impressive aircraft. I'd recommend any pilot who hasn't taken it out yet to experience it for themselves!

Question to Chuck Copley,
Chuck I think you mentioned a good Flight Planning software program to me a while ago for longer cross country flights - can you refresh me what you used? Anyone have any good flight planning software for VFR or IFR that produces easy to use nav logs, etc? thanks, Vince

If any one interested in Flying down to the Hershey, Pa area and go to the Hockey Game and route on for our Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins boys as they vie to shut out the Hershey Bears and to advance to the next round in the Coulder Cup Playoffs.

Hay Vince, just saw your question.
I use a free service that's good for me re flight planning. Most of the jet jocks at HXD use it as well.
Try: fltplan.com
Does everything for you but you need to give it the routing.
I get my routing from DUATS.COM and modify it and put it into fltplan.com.
The program will file with atc in place of phone filing IFR.
Try it, never lost a flt plan with them.

Hi Chuck,
I'm glad to hear you recommend fltplan.com! I have 'played' around with it and will plan on using it in the near future.
Best,
Vince

On July 18th at Essex Co. airport (CDW) the Light Sport Jamboree is going on from 10am to 4pm. It is a Saturday. I plan to attend and visit the LSA aircraft makers that are going to display there. Perhaps we can invite them to bring their LSA aircraft to our LSA seminar in September? The only way we'll know is to go and ask.

Does anyone want to come along and split the plane costs with me? Or, is anyone planning to fly there and I can hop along? I believe some in the club know Joe Fenstermacher and could find him and get his help with talking to the LSA folks.

There is an Air Show scheduled at Greenwood Lake AP 4N1 on the Sat. 26th and Sun. 27th this month. Their first ever I think. An uncommon opportunity (these days) to see some great aircraft and aerobatic performances. Does anyone want to fly out to see the airshow for the day?
