I just wanted to say that it must be really hard for you to deal with this. I can completely understand. I was diagnosed with morphea when I was thirteen and it turned into linear scleroderma just months later. I've had to go through many many experimental treatments and it's been really hard. I was almost 15 and was in remission after many months traveling 3-4 hours back and forth to The Cleveland Clinic.
I'm 18 now, and at the beginning of this year I came out of remission and had to start treatment again. Now they think that I might have lupus...which is much worse, but they have me on a medication for that also to make sure that nothing more comes of what has started.

So I commend you for what you are doing, there really isn't a lot of research done about this disease, and they dont know the cure making it very hard to handle. People need to know more about this, it's not something that can be written off as nothing, it affects the person involved...their friends and family.
If I had known about it sooner I would have been doing this a long time ago...so thank you for being the first to step up!

This is weird but i get seventeen but i always skip over that part that you were in and then i saw the word skin disease and then scleroderma above it. Well i have a skin disease to, Morphea which i guess you know is another type of Scleroderma. I got super excited when i saw it and called my mom and dad and i couldn't wait to get home and see this website. I'm from North Carolina and they supposedly have something at Duke University that helps it, but i haven't tried it yet so i don't know if it works 100%.

Wow, I can't imagine living with this disease, let alone any disease. I heard about you in 17 magazine and immediately looked up your website. I hope that there's something I can do to help and educate people about your condition and that someday there will be a cure. Get better!! My daughter was diagnosed with morphea when she was 13, she is currently 18. She has just one big spot down one side of her back so it appears she is in remission. I am curious, what equipment does your hospital need to perform regular tests? we have never been told she needs to have regular tests performed. It seems as though a lot of doctors don't even know much about this disease.

My step mother also has scleraderma and has had it for about 4 years. It takes one strong, brave person to deal with this evil diease every single day of there life. wow tori i can only stop and think with amazement how someone so young as you can live with what you have and lead a normal life. you seem like a very strong person. i can't say that i understand what it's like to be in your shoes but i am a mother and my oldest son matthew has pkd. he was diagnosed when i was pregnant with him. right now there is no cure only surgery to buy some time. i sall your articule in seventeen and wanted to know if you can give me any advice as to how to create a website for support for my son matt. thank you and i wish you the best of luck

Hi Victoria! I read your column in Seventeen too and came right here. Lucy's right - you're really brave fighting the diseases and I wish you the best of luck! I think it's great how you refuse to give up and have taken the initiative to do whatever it takes to get the equipment that'll help you and any other patient that needs it. I hope you get lots of ad clicks and are able to raise the money for your hospital's machine. :)
