US Delegation to Attend the: 3rd World Traditional Wushu Championships
October 25-November 5, 2008 - Shiyan, Hubei (Wudang Mountain)
Organized by: United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation, Inc. (USAWKF) 6313 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD 21214, USA usawkf@usawkf.org - http://www.usawkf.org

The 3rd World Traditional Wushu Championships will be held in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, China from October 28 to November 2, 2008. It is under the patronage of the IWUF and sponsored by the Chinese Wushu Association.

The 3rd World Traditional Wushu Championships will place greater emphasis on features of traditional Wushu competitions and will encourage wide participation from our Wushu family. At the same time, many famous traditional Wushu masters will be invited to give demonstrations, lectures and seminars during the championships. Wushu federations throughout the world are invited to attend this great gathering of traditional Wushu.

Now, USAWKF is inviting you to be part of this world event!

Shiyan is situated in the northwest of Hubei Province, the upper reach of the Han River. It borders Xiangfan City in the east, at the convergence of Hubei, Shaanxi, Henan and Chongqing. As a juncture of north, southwest and northwest China, it is a town of great important in Hubei.

Wudang Mountain, located in Shiyan in western Hubei, is both a famous scenic spot and the Taoist Holy Land in China. The ancient architectural complex on the mountain was listed by UNESCO in 1994 as a World Culture Heritage Site.

Wudang’s ancient architectural complex consists of eight palaces, two Taoist temples, 72 rock temples, 12 pavilions and 10 shrines. Large in scale and excellent in technical detail, it is a powerful demonstration of the harmony between architecture and nature. Inspired by the fairyland picture of the perfect blending of buildings and mountains, the Wudang architectural complex is known as the Imperial Palace on the Cliff.

Wudang Mountain is renowned as Immortals’ Mountain of Taoism and the World for Swordsman. It is a famous Taoist center in China with a long history of Taoist practice and a profound Taoist culture. Wudang Mountain is also well known for its deep-rooted tradition of wushu (martial arts). As an old saying goes: "Shaolin wushu is the best in the north, while Wudang wushu is the best in the south."

I have just had a very exciting Press Conference in San Francisco's Chinatown today; many of the community leaders came to this Conference & spoke. I introduced the history of the Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008 & the USA WuShu Taolu and SanShou members. This fundraising event was organized by Mr. Bill Lee & Mr. Wing Lau ( they both are very active leaders in SF Chinatown)

So far, they have already raised $7,000 and hope to have more coming in. I'll keep you all posted.

See you all in Brazil.
