I would like to thank both you gentelmen for your help, i will now try the sites that you suggested with the years i should be able to find out something. Sounds as if uncle Wool The Bull is a bit like his brother Sandy i.e bark worse than his bite. Anyway look after yourselves and again many thanks

Cheers Ting think I,ve got you sussed now and Stewart your uncle was my first platoon commander in B Coy Kirknewton early 1973 as we were short of officers he was a seargent then and went onto become my Company Seargent Major in Osnabruck in the 1970,s Wool the Bull as he was sometimes known was a very fit soldier who would do a lot of shouting at you if you were out of line but his bark was worse than his bite and I always found him to be a very fair guy all round and instead of a visit in front of the Company Commander Wooly would give you a "clip roon the ear" all in all I was sorry when I heard he passed away as I have many fond memories of him.
Sid.

Sid McEwan - i was in the bn from 65 until 79 - mainly in HQ coy and was also in Balaklava coy - I ran the clothing store in Osnabruck and handed it over just before I left in Catterick. You can find me on Alan Youngs Argylls history site 2 or 3 times. Stewart Spence - you can also check that site for information about your uncle - it is the second one on the list above - make sure you check both parts because of the dates. I knew your uncle well and we both served in Balaklava coy - he was also with B coy so you should be able to find him
