Hey G$, I figured that out why it was on a Wednesday as soon as I saw the "no more memberships" post at the bottom of the flier. I was just going to say the exact same thing you did, but I saw you posted that first. Yeah, its cuz of the no more memberships. I've gone to lots of Private Clubs, I never had one problem ever getting in. They would ask if I had a membership, I said no, they would say, a temp cost this much, I said ok, paid it, I was in. Or sometimes just because I was a chick, I would get in for free. Basically, they just wanted me in their place so I could buy drinks. Little did they know, I don't drink. Maybe a soda sometimes, that's it. Back to work now, lunch is over for me.

Hey Jon, the Wednesday bus tour is kind of odd, but I guess it's purely a celebration of the 1st day of the no private club bullshit, and they want to celebrate it, and hit as many of the clubs as possible, before the legislature changes their minds.

We were playing in Wyoming last weekend...
G$ - I'd love to come see you guys but I still can't bring myself to set foot in that place. Keep me posted on more shows.
Who's playing Abyss this week? I do need to come check it out.
Juan Crocier's "Dirty Rats" will be at Club Vegas this month, more details coming soon.

Nate - good to see you on here again, was starting think you guys didn't like us anymore, lol. Actually, I was surprised not to see you at teh grand opening last week of The Abyss?
Yeah, I like B.O.C. a lot too, brings back a lot of High School memories from the cruising State Street days. You couldn't turn on the radio with out hearing 'Don't Fear the Reaper' or 'Burnin' For You' it seemed. A few of those guys are lookin' a little ancient as a Cultosaurus Erectus, lol, but I hear they still put on a great show.

We've discussed The Tubes before and I am still not familiar with them, Ive got to remember to check into them.
I sure do hate to miss BOC though, whom I have always loved. I sure miss alot of shows on just timing alone, what a bummer.
Give us a good report Jon if you will please.

I have to say, I'm a big Tubes fan...not so much the Tubes from the early 80's style so much as the Tubes from their earlier stuff. If you're familiar at all with their late 70's tunes and heard about, or have seen their shows they used to put on back then, you'd know what I'm talking about. Tunes like, White Punks On Dope, Mondo Bondage, What Do You Want From Life, etc. I never personally went to any of those but my Dad told me that if you ever have a chance to see them , GO! Well, I'm sure they aren't quite the wild, prop changing maniacs they used to be back then but I never thought I'd see the day that they'd come back to Utah. Sooo, I'm not missing this one. Oh yeah, Blue Oyster Cult isn't anything to sneeze about either!

Interesting that they are doing that G$... or that they would do that on a Wednesday. They probably figured that way they won't get overwhelmed on a weekend night, lol.

Ok, here's a post for something happening on Wednesday, July 1st. A significant day in Utah this year -- possibly overshaddowing the 24th of July. http://www.cityweekly.net/utah/flex-132-ci...y-scenic-bar-t.htmlShameless plug part: Ghostowne will be at Liquid Joe's that night, (on the tour), opening for the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash.

Jon I know that I rely more on this site to see whats happening than others so I think thats an awesome idea. Its too hard to get thru all the bulletins on myspace just to narrow down what bands are playing. I wish more bands would post on here their shows as well. And yes 3-5 days notice would be ideal cause I have to usually find a sitter and thats hard on short notice.

Troy - Thanks for all you do! You're a busy man, I know that for sure. One thing for sure that I know you know very well (since all of those workshops a couple of years ago), is that not everyone picks up the City Weekly, or listens all day to KBER or The Blaze, to find out what bands or National acts are coming to town. That's always been a thorn in the side of this music scene because not all of the easily available resources are being used by the bands here...or clubs. There are places like this message board that a lot of people go to (even if they aren't posting) to see what is going on; just look at the 27,609 views and especially the 1,030 unique hits so far on this site! There are obviously people interested in what is going on. If nothing gets posted on these kinds of mediums, that leaves a considerable amount of people in the dark, and I think that they start to not care anymore after awhile. I like to think that if I, myself, does not hear about something happening that I know I'd be interested in, especially since I consider myself well connected to the scene, then obviously there is going to be a lot of people left in the dark as well. It truly does make sense to try and post all of the rock shows that pertain to the genre we like here on SLRockCity.com at least 3-5 days in advance, or anywhere such as here so the word can get out and us slow pokes can have time to make plans. I wasn't going to get too involved with this site because the original intent for this site was to run itself by the readers. But I really would like to see it become a conduit for advertising the upcoming shows in a static environment like the homepage. So, I think I'll see if I can get web flyers sent to me from Troy (Club Vegas), and Rob (The Abyss), and whoever else I can get to send relevant upcoming show web flyers on the homepage so there will be an easily accessible place to see what's happening since we have such a talented pool of bands here in town. I've been planning on redesigning the homepage anyway - let's see what we can do, to once again, improve the way we get the word out to those who aren't "in-the-klick? Would that be helpful to a lot of people on here? Everybody have a great weekend!

LOL, I actually answered that question on the 16th, yeah, gotta be quick before the pages go by, heh heh.... <quote>"The Abyss is about 1390 West and North Temple. It's the old Bottling House. They've done a great job remodeling this place. Great atmosphere, etc. Of course, if you're more into hardcore metal it might not suit you though - the whole idea of this place is to create that 80s/90s rock/metal feel again. Club Vegas is more suited for the hardcore/death metal crowd on most days. I think they'll be good for each other now that we have more choices...speaking of...it was cool to see Dusty and his wife at the Abyss for the grand opening night... props to them for supporting another club as well."<end quote>
Mamataz - Thanks for posting about THV at The Abyss, I didn't know what was going on there this weekend. Don't have a way to know of their schedule yet that I know of unless someone mentions it on here. Do they have a website yet?
Now let the rock commence!

1390 W. North Temple, SLC. It used to be called the Old Bottling House. It is in the same parking lot as KOA by the UT State Fairgrounds. Mama beat me to it. Jinx, you owe me a coke.
