Ok....so maybe a SERIOUS poll to start off the day? we haven't done that in awhile huh? Im curious what are your top 5 concerts you went to and why? I will list mine but im not sure of the exact dates and who opened on a few of em. I need to crawl up in the attic and find my old tix stubs. But im afraid I will end up trapped up there like Clark griswold on xmas vacation. Ha ha ha! 1.) WASP/Slayer/Raven at the salt palace convention center about 85? I loved that one soo much! I got backstage which was great but I just remember if being a defining moment where I thought " I really like this metal shit" I was only 12. 2.) Queensryche Operation Mindcrime tour...I was already in love with them from warning on but this one sent me over the edge. No one (that I knew of) had ever done a concept album like that with a story line and acted it all out in their show. Still wish they would go back and do this tour again! 3.) Iron maiden... not sure what tour but had to be around 87? And they just plain kick ass live! What an awesome show! 4.) Motley Crue theatre of pain....come on the whole drum thing had us all in awe! 5.) AC/DC...anytime and anywhere. I have seen them alot and they just plain kick ass too! No ballads...just good old rock and roll!

Cherry - Oh yeah, but they played holy-hell on the drum-heads. That mini-Kiss cracked me up!
Jon - That's a very cool 'Ryche site. Nice find. Someone put a whole lot of time and energy into that project.
Mama - You slay me! I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful one-hundred percent!
Owl catch ya later!

I didnt see it so I cant judge...Im sure the Who rocked it for how old they are. I think its just a younger audience that wasnt diggin the old folk half time show and cant appreciate the Who for who they are. (I feel like an owl with all these who's....or Dr. Seuss)

Exactly Troy. It's all about enjoying the fact that they are the legendary band he Who. It's just nice to see them out doing a live performance and having a good time.

Yeah, I was really irritated with all the negativity regarding the Who's performance. Do they think they were hired to do anything different? They paid their dues a long time ago, and they still rock, they did what they do and did it well. I'm out!

Found this really informative website today called "Anybody Listening?". It's an archival sort of site for everything Queensryche. It has all of the concert tour dates from all of their albums and a crap load of magazine article scans, bio's, pictures, etc. http://www.anybodylistening.net/index.htmlOh, by the way Mamataz, didn't you notice how closely the Ryche logo resembles the New Orleans Saints logo? I wonder who Geoff was rooting for?

"Hope I can still rock like that when I'm that old. Amen to that Rob. Funny though, The Who wanted to die before they got old...LOL! And as far as their halftime jam, I've read the negatives too. One guy wrote that they should have just put on a Who album with the light show but I think a lot of people are totaly missing the point. The Who live is, as G-mon pointed out, always a raw, edgy, experience - that's what makes them The Who in my oppinion. I was wishing they could have kept on about 5 - 6 songs longer. I was grinning like the cheshire cat throughout it all.
Thanks for the drummer info G. I was wondering Who that was. Very solid. Certainly out-shines his daddy-O eh?

Cherry - I was at that Ozzy/Winger show in '89. Squished our way to the front row (festival seating). My first concert was Jethro Tull, 1976, The Salt Palace. My brothers date stood him up, so he took me. I saw Styx in '77.
I thought The Who were pretty good for the half-time show. Hope I can still rock like that when I'm that old.

I always enjoy watcing Pete Townsend. He's still got it. Hell, you want a good old album, try 'Pete Townshend - Empty Glass' [released April, 1980].
