Burn Victim Rehab
www.officer/jason.org/pov/press/ap return.htlm-This was definitely a touching story of courage and honor and I recall the story of the accident. Website ok, that is, no “worst features”.
http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/burn/-This website is not only reputable, but very informative. I did know that the first 48 hours are the most critical and found info very informative. No worst features.
http://www.azburncenter.com- An awesome website locally centered in our state, informative, resources available for education and emergency info. No worst features.
http://www.burnsurvivor.com/medical.html - Did not know about this website and good resource for any burn victims and information regarding types of burns and scar tissue and the reason for pressure garments. Liked the website.

1. http://www.officerjason.org/pov/press/ap_return.html
 Pros
A. Jason’s story really catches a reader’s attention
B. Well written, covers Jason’s accident to his recovery.
Cons
A. Links could have been added regarding burn treatments and advancements.
2. http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/burn/
Pros
A. The website has a lot of information pertaining to the surgery and what is involved, which answers many questions.
B. I like the fact that the questions are answered on a “individual” basis, no one person is the same and they emphasize that, so there is no false hope.
Cons
A. Although the website does say that not all burn scars can be removed, I for one, would like to know how much could be restored by the severity of the burn, even a ball park figure would be nice.
B. I would like to know what is involved in the occupational therapy, needs to give a little more detail in that area.
3. http://www.azburncenter.com
Pros
A. The website has extensive coverage of the type of burns, how to treat, what to do if you or your clothing catches fire, etc.
B. Rehabilitation pages have a lot of details and information, which can be very helpful to a burn victim.
Cons
A. The “Home” page can be confusing a bit difficult to navigate, links to other pages is too small.
B. The research page is very vague; I would like to know more detail about the research being done and the advances being made.

4. http://www.burnsurvivor.com/medical.html
Pros
A. I like the statistics page, something the other sites didn’t have.
B. This site also covers inhalation injuries, another topic I did not see on the other sites and something people with the condition maybe looking for.
  Cons
A. Nothing on research
B. Nothing on rehabilitation (its coming soon), for someone who needs or wants information now, that would be a con

1. I found your first website to be very good. I thought having a story being very personal. The only thing I may mention is it may not give you all the information you are looking for but I though it gave a real nice way of showing your topic in an way that may not catch the readers eye.
2. Website 2 was good. At first I didn’t think there was much info but I realized I had to search around. You may want to make that easier to people so they don’t think the same thing. Other than that the websites were really good and informative. They stored a lot of good information I think that will benefit your research.
3. I though your 3rd website is very strong. I think it covers a lot of information that involves your topic. I think that that website might be very useful and informative due to the amount of information found.
4. I think my favorite website was this one. It had so much information and such a different variety. I think that your websites are really good and contain very useful information. I think your research will be successful. Good job

Leah, really interesting topic and websites. Obviously either John Hopkins or the AZ burn center could be your major websites to review. The other two from the police officer and burn victims would work for a minor. Your peers have provided really nice feedback on content and I have nothing to add. Your peer evals were a little short and didn't include two best and two worst form each website per instructions

The John Hopkins Burn Center
www.hopkinsmedicine.org/burn/

This is a valuable website with a plethora of information. The website has been posted by Johns Hopkins Medicine to provide an outreach to individuals who have been badly burned. The website covers clinical services, patient information, faculty and staff, education and research.

This website relates back to the basics of anatomy and physiology of the body in regards to tissues and the integumentary system. We discussed in class specifically the topic of Epithelial tissue or epithelium. Epithelium is the sheet of cells that covers a body’s surface or lines a body cavity. Epithelium provides protection, absorption, filtration, excretion, secretion and sensory reception. When an individual has been burned the epithelium can be severely damaged depending on the degree of burn.

At the Burn Center at John Hopkins they treat conditions from “acute burns (flame, scald, electrical and chemical injuries), late effects of burn injury (the surgical treatment of burn scar deformity and burn scar dysfunction), and wounds (toxic epidermal necrolysis, necrotizing fasciitis, chronic ulcers and pressure sores). Because of the complex nature of burns and their physical and psychological aspects they require a multidisciplinary team of providers which include experts in plastic and reconstructive surgery, physical therapy, nursing, psychology, nutrition, social work and case management.” (www.hopkinsmedicine.org).

The two best features of this website is the link to recent burn victims at www.hopkinsmedicine.org/burn/news/wbalpeds and the links to Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, the University and Medicine.

In my opinion there are no worst features to this website.

Jason Schecterle, A Heroic Story
http://www.officerjason.org/pov/press/ap_return.html

This is a very touching story that puts a face to burn victims.
This website has been posted by Jason Schecterle, a phoenix police officer who was severely disfigured in a car explosion. His website describes his on going battle of surgeries and trying to get back to a normal life.

“On March 26, 2001 Jason Schecterle a Phoenix police officer was responding to an emergency call when a cab driver suffered an epileptic seizure and slammed into Schecterles police cruise, which erupted into a fireball. Schecterle was trapped for several minutes before he was rescued. The blaze seared his hands, arms and legs but took direct aim at his head and face, which sustained 4th degree burns.” (www.officerjason.org)

This website relates back to the basics of anatomy and physiology of the body in regards to the 4th degree burns Schecterle suffered (tissues and integumentary system) and now the endless physical and speech therapists Schecterle has to see 5 times a week.

The two best features of this site is www.officerjason.org/gallery/index.html a picture is worth a thousand words and www.officerjason.org/index.html offers his wife’s point of view and the doctor’s.

In my opinion there are no worst features of this website.

The John Hopkins Burn Center
www.hopkinsmedicine.org/burn/
for the review of this website. I think that you wrote very well. I really liked the way you described the relation between the website and sunjects we learned in class. "Epithelium is the sheet of cells that covers a body’s surface or lines a body cavity....When an individual has been burned the epithelium can be severely damaged depending on the degree of burn."

Jason Schecterle, A Heroic Story
http://www.officerjason.org/pov/press/ap_return.html

for your review of thhis website, I think that you need to add "WHY you believe they are posting the websites" and "What parts of the body’s anatomy and what aspects of the body’s functioning or physiolgoy are important for understanding the health or well-being issue that your website is dealing with."

The 1st website
Jason Schecterle, A Heroic Story
http://www.officerjason.org/pov/press/ap_return.html

Is a very touching site, I just feel your review could have been more in depth and in your own words instead of quoting the site. Why did he post it? And a little more to do with how it relates to A&P. IMO, there just needs to be more information, its lacking substanance and looks very rushed.

The second site
The John Hopkins Burn Center

I see why they posted it, but in regards of plethra of information you could go into futher detail on that and clinical services, patient information, faculty and staff, education and research...

What's provided in the clinical services, patient information, education and research? A small overview would be nice..maybe a sentence for each?
Great explanation of how it relates to A&P though

They just need a little more detail thats all

The 1st website the review was very straight to the point, but lacking in depth of content. It was very easy to read and had all of the points required of the review.

The second website review also had everything required

I found your first website to be strong but short. It had almost everything required but maybe a why they wrote this site would be good to add. I would assume this is your minor site but if it isn't , i would suggest making that clear which is which.

I found your 2nd website about the officer to be great. You gave all information on why he wrote it, what happened and how it related back to A & P. I did notice you had nothing bad to say about either site.
